Department Overview

Chief Data Office is the Group Central Data and Analytics arm that works closely with the Group Businesses and Group Corporate functions to enable the execution Nomura Group Strategy through Robust Data Standards & Governance, Actionable Performance Metrics & MIS, and High Impact Information and Analytics Products and Solution. 


Job Purpose:

Drive development of analytics products for data and digital transformation across Nomura Group.

 

Role Description:
Job Responsibilities:

•    Leader to create Nomura’s Information & Analytics Products.  Proven experience in successfully delivering information & analytics products across global organizations with various levels of business analytics maturity, and the ability engage with analytics leaders of Nomura’s businesses to embed state-of-the-art analytics informed decision making.
•    Thought leader in enabling data architecture and delivery of data-analytics platforms – on-premise, cloud and hybrid
•    Exceptional information & analytics experience & technical skills. State-of-the-art expertise across, data/information preparation, data insight & visualization using BI (or similar tools), and advanced data prediction using AI, ML, DL, etc.
•    Strong data management experience & technical skills. State-of-the-art expertise in data management to ensure the analytics products are appropriate/ethical and well-controlled.
•    Information & analytics visionary.  Envisage and deliver leading edge information & analytics products to Nomura’s businesses, strategically partnering both internally and externally to deliver best in class products.
•    Be a trusted partner. Shape the information & analytics agenda at Nomura, and work with all of Nomura’s businesses in laying out their information & analytics adoption roadmaps.
•    Create a strong delivery team.  Lead, mentor and grow a global team of information & analytics experts capable of transforming Nomura.


Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

•    Masters in quantitative fields (Computer Science, Statistics or similar) or at least a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields with minimum of 10 years of relevant data experience.
•    Preferred experience in Financial Services and Other adjacent Consumer centric business 
•    Strong understanding of fundamental data concepts (data modelling, data pipelines, data quality, lineage etc.) and data warehousing methodologies. Conversant with data architecture paradigms
•    Strong cloud engineering skills with ability to drive solution design - Experience with AWS data platforms like Redshift, EMR, RDS, Athena and Glue or similar
•    Proficient with Data-Ops, AI and ML-Ops processes, platforms and methodologies and hands on with CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible, DevOps process, Enterprise integration patterns.
•    Microservices Development: Building and maintaining highly scalable and fault tolerant microservice, including efficient server-side APIs.
•    Proficient in REST services, JSON data, Python 3, Linux/Unix Shell Scripting, containerization etc. 
•    Proficient in modern data management methodologies and architecture
•    Experience with building and managing data pipelines using Spark or similar big data processing tools
•    High acumen to identify business scenarios and use data and analytics to solve and drive business KPIs.
•    Understanding of core business functions to apply analytics in specific areas and drive change management.
•    Clear understanding of value driven by analytics interventions and able to drive decision making.
•    Be able to connect and manage relationship with C-Suite/senior executives to drive data framework compliance and plan change management processes wherever necessary.
•    Train and mentor teams and internal business units and stakeholders and data management framework requirements, improvements and operationalization.
•    Understand agile ways of working, and able to manage and deliver multiple projects effectively. Can plan, requirements and dependencies; manage complex analysis and enable necessary reporting.
•    Ability to make decisions independently and in line with corporate philosophy, professional ethics, compliance, risk management and Nomura code of conduct.
