Department Overview:

Nomura Risk Management division oversees risks associated with the firm’s global business activities, inclusive of but not limited to market, credit, operational and liquidity risks, while enabling the firm to achieve long-term sustainable growth.

In close collaboration across business divisions, senior management and stakeholders, the division develops and sets risk management frameworks to identify, manage and mitigate the firm’s risks, continually ensuring transparency and business activities are operating in line with risk appetite.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a high-performing Associate to join our Asia ex-Japan Risk HQ function.  This role will be instrumental in CRO initiatives, Risk Regulatory liaison, department management in the region, with regular engagement across Risk Management functions and leadership, and various Business and Corporate departments.

This position offers wide exposure across Risk functions and senior management, and requires a highly adaptable Risk professional with comprehensive understanding of the CRO division, who is able to maintain discretion while managing multiple competing new and ongoing demands in a fast-moving environment.

Role Description:

CRO Initiatives & Risk Governance

  • Manage or support CRO initiatives across the region (e.g. entity risk governance, cross-functional initiatives, regional projects). With collaborations across functions including Market Risk Management, Credit Risk Management, and Operational Risk Management.
  • Manage or support Risk Committees and senior management meetings materials and coverage at both regional and local levels
  • Support CRO decision-making with data-driven insights and analysis
  • Develop risk communication materials including newsletters and surveys

Regulatory Liaison

  • Manage regional regulatory submissions and examinations in liaison with Risk, Compliance, and other Business or Corporate departments
  • Coordinate regional regulatory matters across Risk functions and entities coverage
  • Serve as liaison for Risk on regulatory matters between the region and global Risk HQ

Department Management

  • Manage or support department management, including organizational chart, onboarding new joiners, visitor coordination, team events and regional town halls
  • Manage office logistics, equipment procurement with IT, and office space coordination with CRES (Corporate Real Estate Services)
  • Coordinate Business Continuity Planning (BCP) for regional Risk functions

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Skills, experience, and knowledge required:

  • 4+ years of experience within financial institutions
  • 4+ years of experience within risk management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accountancy or Risk Management
  • Familiarity with financial services industry and risk management
  • Experience with regulatory liaison will be a plus
  • Experience with risk systems, AI or visualization tools will be a plus
