The team has a well-defined mandate of managing AeJ financial resources usages of all business lines, including Global Markets, Wealth Management and Investment Banking, in a prudent and robust manner that meets both the internal governance and external regulatory requirements. It partners closely with other functions and regions to facilitate the business thrive on changing business landscape and achieve best return on equity.
Role Overview:
This role focuses on regulatory policy management covering capital regulation, structured trade reviews, accounting policy for local IFRS legal entity analysis, and regulatory and accounting change management. Our business footprint spans across 10 countries in Asia with advanced legal entity structure underpinning our strong product and service offering to our clients. The firm has ambitious medium term growth plans; the value proposition is to partner with business units to navigate the evolving regulatory and accounting landscape while ensuring compliance and optimizing regulatory capital efficiency across the regional franchise.
The role requires deep regulatory policy expertise combined with practical implementation skills to respond to changing regulatory requirements. In-depth knowledge of Asia regional regulatory frameworks, Basel requirements, and IFRS accounting standards is expected to be the foundation for this role. Strong communication and presentation skills to global and regional management would be instrumental to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable business guidance. Strong corporate governance attitude is also expected as we build trust with regional regulators by demonstrating transparent and robust policy implementation processes under a well-governed control environment.
Role Description:
Regulatory Policy & Capital Regulation
• Monitor and analyze regulatory developments across Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, with particular focus on capital adequacy requirements, Basel framework implementations, and local regulatory variations
• Develop and maintain regulatory policy frameworks covering capital regulation, ensuring alignment with Group standards while addressing local regulatory requirements
• Prepare regulatory impact assessments for new regulations and propose implementation strategies to senior management
• Engage with business stakeholders to articulate regulatory requirements and constraints, driving compliant solutions that optimize regulatory capital efficiency
Structured Trade Reviews & Analysis
• Conduct regulatory and accounting analysis of structured trades and complex transactions to ensure appropriate capital treatment and accounting classification
• Collaborate with front office and product teams to provide regulatory guidance on transaction structuring and capital implications
• Develop frameworks for ongoing monitoring and review of structured products from regulatory capital and accounting perspectives
• Support the approval process for new products and transactions through relevant governance committees
IFRS Accounting Policy & Legal Entity Analysis
• Conduct accounting policy analysis for complex transactions, supporting the application of local IFRS requirements
• Support legal entity rationalization initiatives by providing accounting and regulatory analysis of proposed structural changes
• Monitor changes in IFRS standards and assess impact on regional legal entities, developing implementation plans as required
Regulatory & Accounting Change Management
• Keep abreast of regulatory and accounting developments across the region and assess their impact on business operations
• Lead implementation of regulatory and accounting changes, coordinating across functions to ensure timely and compliant adoption
• Develop change management frameworks and processes to handle ongoing regulatory evolution
• Prepare regular updates and briefings for senior management on regulatory and accounting developments
Governance & Stakeholder Management
• Support regional governance committees (ALCO, RiskCo, etc.) with regulatory policy expertise and analysis
• Collaborate across functions including Risk, Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure coordinated approach to regulatory matters
• Build and maintain relationships with regional regulators through transparent communication and robust policy documentation
• Contribute to Group initiatives related to regulatory optimization and policy harmonization
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
Organizational & Leadership Capabilities
• Ability to navigate complex matrix organization structures and operate with confidence to drive regulatory policy outcomes in a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment
• Extensive experience communicating regulatory requirements and policy implications to executive management across diverse cultural environments in Asia-Pacific
• Self-motivated to connect with both global policy teams and regional business functions to identify balanced, compliant solutions that meet regulatory requirements while supporting business objectives
• Confident personality with ability to provide thought leadership on regulatory matters and drive policy implementation across multiple legal entities
Technical Expertise & Experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience working with financial markets or banking products involving regulatory risk assessments across multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated experience, minimum 7 years in Basel regulatory capital frameworks, IFRS application, and regulatory change management initiatives in a financial institution or regulatory advisory environment.
• Ideally 12+ years of relevant experience in regulatory policy, capital management, or accounting policy roles within a bank, securities firm, or regulatory consulting environment
• Direct experience managing regulatory compliance across a portfolio of subsidiaries or legal entities in multiple jurisdictions
• Proven track record in structured transaction analysis and regulatory capital optimization

• Strong analytical capabilities with ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical policy guidance
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple regulatory initiatives and cope with tight regulatory deadlines
• Experience in regulatory change management and implementation of new accounting standards across multiple entities
• Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to influence and coordinate across different functions, geographies, and levels of seniority
Communication & Cultural Competencies
• Presentation skills with experience briefing senior management and regulatory authorities on complex policy matters
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness essential for operating effectively across diverse Asian markets
• Ability to build productive relationships with regional regulators and maintain transparent communication channels
Additional Qualifications
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CA, CFA or equivalent (required).
• Experience with regulatory technology systems and policy management platforms advantageous
