Role description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic AEJ (Asia ex-Japan) Finance COO. This pivotal role will work closely with the CFO to drive finance strategy, manage change initiatives, and ensure operational excellence across the finance function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures.

Responsibilities:
- Finance Strategy and Transformation:
- Partner with the CFO to develop and implement finance strategy
- Lead initiatives in outsourcing, operating model optimization, and roles/responsibilities definition
- Drive data and digital strategy, including AI implementation in finance
- Change Management and Project Oversight:
- Manage the finance book of work and oversee project portfolios
- Establish accountability and timelines for initiatives
- Track progress and escalate issues as needed
- Coordinate efforts within finance and across other functions (Risk, Operations, Business, Technology)
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Navigate complexities and manage conflicts within the finance department
- Act as a decisive referee in case of stalemates
- Finance Control and Oversight:
- Oversee the control framework for the entire finance function
- Manage operational risk, RCSAs, and internal audit issue follow-ups
- Develop and maintain control heatmaps and escalation processes
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of processes and controls
- Proactively assess and stress-test the control environment
- Oversee new business approval processes
- Executive Communication and Reporting:
- Assist the CFO in preparing presentations and finance updates
- Deliver monthly communications to the broader finance team
- Prepare senior management updates for HQ, regional management, committees, and boards
- Process Improvement and Re-engineering:
- Collaborate with functional leads to review and challenge existing processes
- Ensure efficiency and control in all finance processes
- Oversee process documentation efforts
- Partner with technology teams for automation initiatives
- Budget Management:
- Ensure strict adherence to the finance budget
- People Management and Development:
- Serve as the main point of contact for HR Business Partners for hiring and attrition
- Conduct talent mapping in collaboration with the Finance Management Team
- Drive people engagement initiatives and organize finance social event
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position
- Experience in financial operations, controls, and regulatory requirements in the banking industry
- Experience leading large-scale transformation projects in Financial Services
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Experience with financial systems and technologies, including AI and automation tools
