Department Overview
Prime Brokerage is a suite of services provided by investment banks to hedge funds and institutional investors. Services include market access, trade execution, asset custody, securities lending, financing/margin trading and risk management. These services allow our clients to focus on their core investment goals and strategy.
Prime Technology is part of Global Markets IT. We are a front-office trader facing technology team combining the functions of Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending and Equity Financing. We are responsible for building platforms to grow and scale our global Prime Business. The Shanghai Prime Team works closely on initiatives with the Hong Kong technology team and Hong Kong / Japan traders.
Functional Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Software Engineer to join our Shanghai Prime Platform Solutions Technology Team. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, take on early responsibility, and contribute to the firm's success. Our current focus is on building scalable systems and workflows to enable market expansion and automation whilst ensuring risks are transparent and managed. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop intuitive, high-performance trading user interfaces using React and modern web technologies
- Create layouts and components for complex data-intensive applications, focusing on desktop tools for real-time trading workflow, chat interfaces, dashboards, alerts and notifications
- Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit tests, integration tests, performance tests and user acceptance testing
- Work closely with traders and product development to: Gather and refine UI/UX requirements, conduct user interviews and usability studies, create user stories/journeys, create wireframes
- Document UI/UX patterns and maintain design system documentation
- Collaborate on projects across other technology, business, client and vendor teams.
- Be part of a global team with members in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mumbai, London, and New York. Contributing to collective goals and supporting your global colleagues.
Required Skills and Experience
- Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science university degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science/STEM subjects.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with traders and other stakeholders.
- Experience with building trader focused User Interfaces
- Proficiency with modern web technologies (React/Redux/AG-grid) with test driven (Jest/Cypress) development
- Proactive learning mindset and the ability to take initiative in identifying and solving problems.
- Demonstrated interest in technology and modern software design/architecture.
Preferred Skills
Functional:
- Knowledge of equity swaps, securities lending, equities order management, inventory management, balance sheet/financing/funding, trader tools/desktop, equity trade booking/lifecycle
- Knowledge of UX research methodologies and user testing
- Familiarity with user workflow design and process optimization
Technical:
- API design (Rest/Websocket)
- Authentication/Authorization: Single Sign On
- DevOps: Gitlab CI/CD, Ansible, Observability/Telemetry
