Global Markets Technology builds and maintains software solutions used by Global Markets Front and Middle office businesses. The business is spread across EMEA, US, Japan, AEJ, and emerging Markets like India, Brazil, and China. It deals in wide range of products including FX, Rates, Credit, Securitized Products, Equities, Futures & Options, FI/EQ Derivatives, and Prime Services including financing.

 

 

Role Description

 

Global Execution Services Technology is an organization which provides a technology platform for electronic, low-latency, and algorithmic trading across a wide range of Nomura clients, both external and internal.  The Algo Platform team is directly responsible for the technology that supports algo trading, such as market data, market access, order routing, and an algo container for quant/research development.

 

This is an individual contributor position within the Algo Platform team. The selected person would be part of Global Execution Services The selected person would report to Algo Platform team lead. His or her core responsibilities would be development and support of the algo container and related facilities. The role may be located in New York or the San Francisco Bay Area.  The role requires registration with FINRA (Series 57), so candidate should either have current registration or will be expected to achieve this registration.

 

 

The role and responsibilities are as follows:

 

  • Develop large, complex Algo Platform. Contribute to development of features and testing and automation tools

  • Understand the existing business functions and participate in defining new solutions that meet business objectives.

  • Work with the product team, stakeholders and end-users for contribution towards requirement discovery and project prioritization.

  • Design and develop high-quality software deliveries within the committed deadlines.

  • Willing to work and contribute across entire SDLC – including dev, testing and support. Collaborate with various development, QA and support teams across different regions

  • L3 support – quick support resolution of production and user issues, application testing and maintenance releases. Interface with other support teams, global internal and external clients related to support, use and output of the products. As part of global team, act as key contact point for queries of both technical and functional nature.

  • Problem ownership – from Incident to resolution. Root cause analysis & fixes for maintaining and improving system stability.

  • Provide regular updates regarding status or progress made to managers and stakeholders.

  • Contribute towards establishing software delivery best practices

  • Gain understanding of various applications and systems being developed by peer groups.

  • Willing to own deliveries and work hands-on across all aspects of software delivery including development, testing, documentation and support.

  • Willing to learn new technologies/ tools as required, in order to effectively deliver output.

 

 

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

 

  • Knowledge of Equity Trading Markets – especially order entry and market data protocols

  • Excellent technical skills in

    • Strong Core Java

    • UNIX Shell scripting

    • Gitlab CI – Continuous Integration

  • Understanding of memory management, multi-threading - concurrency and synchronization.

  • Very detail oriented with excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Quick learner

  • Highly proactive and takes initiative to identify problem areas and evolve solutions.

  • Takes pride in the beauty of the code – structure, formatting, and documentation

  • Series 57 certification

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Low-latency trading

  • Sequencer/Message-oriented system architecture and design

  • Experience of Trading System Development and/or Complex Event Processing

  • Knowledge of FIX

  • Exposure to C++ for collaboration with teams working in that language
