Role Description:

We're seeking a strategic Vice President, Business Manager to serve as a trusted partner to the Head of Business Enablement and senior investment leadership. This high-impact role sits at the nexus of strategy, operations, and finance - driving business performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth initiatives across our equities platform.

 

As a key member of the business management team, you'll combine financial acumen, strategic thinking, and operational expertise to optimize team economics, enhance decision-making, and accelerate critical initiatives. This role offers exceptional visibility across the organization and direct partnership with investment leaders shaping our business trajectory.

 

In this dynamic role, you will:

 

Financial Strategy & Business Economics (~50% of role)

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the equities business, providing actionable insights that inform strategic resource allocation
  • Conduct comprehensive fee analysis, competitive benchmarking, and support fee negotiations to enhance profitability and competitiveness
  • Develop proformas and scenario analysis for new products, strategies, and business initiatives—translating complex data into clear investment cases
  • Create and track KPIs and performance metrics that provide early warning signals and identify growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with corporate finance on expense management, cost allocation, and financial reporting

Strategic Initiatives & Business Planning (~20% of role)

  • Partner with the Head of Business Management and investment leadership to translate strategic vision into executable plans with clear milestones and accountability
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives spanning product launches, operational improvements, technology implementations, and organizational changes
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive positioning, and business performance to inform strategic decision-making and business planning
  • Analyze expansion opportunities, new product development, and strategic partnerships - building business cases and implementation roadmaps

 

Operational Excellence & Process Optimization (~20% of role)

  • Diagnose operational bottlenecks and process gaps; design and implement scalable solutions that enhance productivity
  • Streamline cross-functional processes, establish clear governance frameworks, and enhance communication protocols
  • Lead initiatives from concept through execution, coordinating across investment teams, operations, technology, legal, compliance, risk, and finance
  • Identify dependencies, anticipate challenges, and develop contingency plans to ensure successful project delivery

 

Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management (~10% of role)

  • Function as a trusted bridge between investment teams and corporate functions, facilitating alignment and collaboration
  • Prepare compelling, data-driven presentations for senior management, investment committees, and other constituents
  • Translate intricate financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights and executive-ready messaging
  • Cultivate strong partnerships across all organizational levels, from analysts to senior management

 

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in investment management, asset management, financial services consulting, or corporate strategy roles
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and P&L management within investment management or related industries
  • Experience with fee analysis, pricing strategies, and revenue optimization in asset management
  • Track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from conception through implementation
  • Ability to see the big picture, identify patterns, and connect dots across complex business challenges
  • Exceptional communication skills with proven ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders and investment professionals
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and drive accountability
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot quickly in fast-moving, dynamic environments
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency (financial modeling, complex analysis, executive presentations)
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and data visualization platforms is a plus
  • Familiarity with investment management systems (Aladdin, Bloomberg, FactSet) a plus
  • Experience supporting investment management teams
  • Background in investment operations, financial planning and analysis, product management, or business development

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.
