Department Overview
Tax Operations is a division of Nomura Wholesale Operations and is responsible for documenting, withholding, and reporting income paid by Nomura to client accounts to the IRS. Tax Operations liaise with various areas of the firm to approve new client onboarding and to ensure that onboarded accounts remain documented from a tax perspective. At calendar year-end Tax Operations is responsible for compiling all reportable data and issuing out IRS year-end forms 1099 and 1042-S to U.S. and non-U.S. client accounts; as well as filing the 1099, 1042-S and 1042 forms directly with the IRS.
Function Overview
The candidate will be responsible for validating U.S. tax forms (W8 and W9) into our tax form validation system, working with internal departments and trading teams on various onboarding and withholding related issues, allocating payment to the IRS, developing year-end tax forms for stakeholders, etc. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a team setting, be able to deliver under tight deadlines, prioritize and multitask various responsibilities.
Role Description
- Responsible for validating client tax documentation (W8 & W9).
- Communicate with onboarding teams and management regarding issues with client tax documentation and withholding.
- Continual communication with internal stake holders and management on status of projects.
- Demonstrate elevated organization skills and ability to work in high volumes under a tight deadline.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required
- An understanding of the W8 and W9 tax forms is not required but highly recommended.
- Experience with S&P MD3 and IPS systems is recommended.
- Organization and attention to detail is a must to complete this project.
- Organized with high attention to detail and able to problem solve quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to manage high volume requests, while being flexible and dynamic in execution
