Department overview
The Global Markets Technology Department at Nomura builds and maintains software solutions used by Global Markets Front and Middle office businesses. The business is spread globally across US, Japan, EMEA, and AEJ.
The Repo Technology team within Global Markets Technology focuses on requirements of the Repo Sales, Trading and other users, managing business critical applications, which provide Trade Capture, Life Cycle and Position Management capabilities along with integrating these systems with other Corporate platforms in the bank. The team is spread out globally in 4 regions, and the applicant must be highly motivated, able to work on their own initiative, have excellent attention to detail while delivering business requirements for Front Office facing applications, liaising closely with Front office users and other BA / Technology teams.
Role description:
- Work closely with the global Repo IT development team
- Develop a strong understanding of the FIS Apex and Transcend applications - functionality and flows, being used globally at Nomura
- Understand the US specific legacy application flows, and contribute to re-engineer / align them with the global flows
- Deliver data extraction, transform and loading tasks related to Transcend implementation in NY
- Ensure code quality and delivery timelines.
- Propose solutions and implement the same keeping best practices in mind.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willing to learn new technologies / tools as required, in order to effectively deliver output
- Contribute to Transformation agenda of the firm, adopting standard tool chains and migrating application infrastructure to the cloud
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong programming background, with 6-12 years of core Java/J2EE experience with Spring, Hibernate, Springboot, Rest APIs and Relational databases (Oracle / MSSQL), working on Unix/Linux platforms
- Experience building multithreaded real-time systems with high volume of messages using Tibco EMS / RV / IBM MQ / Solace / Kafka or similar middleware, handling XML and Json message parsing, building, publishing
- Familiarity with Development and source code versioning tools such as Maven / Gradle, JIRA, Git is required, and also having experience with CI / CD tools and Jenkins/GIT pipelines,
- Familiar with scheduling agents like Autosys, etc
- Good problem solving skills, Good understanding of programming concepts, design patterns and multi-tier enterprise application architecture.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience with reporting tools like iReports will be a plus
- Experience with Cloud/DevOps tools will be a plus
- Knowledge of Investment banking (Fixed income – Bonds / Repo in particular) domain, or Collateral Management and Optimization domain.
