Team Overview:
The Risk engine group is responsible for design, development and level 3 support for the risk calculation engines within the Risk & Capital Technology group. This group is primarily focussed on the calculation, aggregation and reporting of the risk analytics across market and counterparty credit risk.
Role / Principal Accountabilities:
Design, Development of various modules and models involved in the risk projects.
Work with Risk management and methodology team to understand the business requirements and work towards robust and scalable application design.
Articulate technical design & solutions to non-technical / business users.
Ownership of project work during difference phases from initiation, development, unit testing to QA, UAT, Staging and Production.
Profiling of current application, new changes and identify areas of performance improvement and memory optimization.
Writing Unit test cases (JUnit), documenting technical design and other operational procedures [sharepoint].
- Strong technical skills with hands-on expertise in Python and Java
- Good understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns
- Collaborative and constructive approach to working in global teams
- Experience working closely with Business Analysts and users to understand requirements and come up with design/solution
- Autonomy and care for accuracy and efficiency in processing data
- Strong problem solving skills to debug complex and time-sensitive production incidents
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge and a minimum of 5 years’ commercial experience in Java.
- In-depth knowledge of concurrency / threading, profiling, memory footprint.
- Experience working on distributed system and handling & processing of large scale data (trades, risk, market data etc).
- Experience working with in-memory caching solutions (in-house built) or vendor-based products.
- Able to troubleshoot problems in multiple environments in a stack with diverse technology.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to multi-task, and work towards tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experience working within public cloud environment especially AWS.
- A background with in-memory cubes such as Active Pivot.
- Capital markets, Market & Credit Risk experience.
- Knowledge and experience working in Python using scientific and data analysis libraries.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Confident working on Linux operating systems and comfortable with the CLI
- Knowledge of Git, Continuous Integration and other supporting systems for CI/CD pipelines
- Previous experience with Apache Spark and/or Hadoop.
