Department overview:

Data Management Technology (DMT) is the technology service provider to Nomura’s Group Data Office (GDO). DMT works closely with the GDO, the Chief Technology Architecture group, the various businesses and their IT teams to build, buy & integrate products/solutions to catalog and curate data, simplify access to data while also protecting, storing and improving the quality of the data. Leveraging the latest third party and open source technology, DMT helps Nomura become a data driven organization and in the process reduce cost and increase revenue.

Role description

Work in an agile fashion and as part of a global team to develop an enterprise wide file data transfer platform used by all major systems in the firm. Extend the scope of the existing solution to improve scalability while also offering users the flexibility to set up and manage their own transfers. The work will include modifications to existing components to increase throughput and developing services for public cloud gateway (AWS).

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computing / business / quantitative discipline
• 7 years of Java development experience.
• Very strong and current ‘hands-on’ development experience in core JAVA (v.8 or later), including multi-threading, and related technologies on Unix/Linux/Windows environment
• Very strong and current ‘hands-on’ development experience in working with Python 2 or 3
• Experience in REST services, JSON data, JDBC, JMX, JMS, Spring/Spring Boot
• Experience on working with AWS cloud
• Experience on working with applications that are designed and deployed for High Availability
• Fluent in writing complex SQL (SQL Server, Oracle or similar).
• Deep understanding of the SDLC, DevOps processes,  Agile methodologies, Design Patterns, Enterprise integration patterns
• 5+ years of experience working in a financial services organization.
• Good understanding of financial products and capital markets.
• A team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience working with offshore teams.
• Proven track record delivering technical solutions in a complex global environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Linux/Unix Shell Scripting
• SQL Tuning
• Web development using ReactJS
• Big Data, Hadoop, Snowflake
