Department Description

Nomura’s Acquisition & Leveraged Finance (ALF) business is a joint venture between the Investment Banking (IB) and Global Markets (GM) divisions. The ALF business originates, structures, underwrites / arranges and distributes debt financings for private equity-led buyouts, corporate acquisitions, and refinancing/dividend recap transactions.

 

The Global Markets side of the ALF business is hiring for a Senior Associate / Vice President to focus on credit underwriting and due diligence on new issue transactions, and to assist with loan portfolio management. The position will sit within the Capital Commitments Group and will also have responsibility for assessing the risk/reward profile of select transactions in other business lines (e.g. CLO Warehouses, Fund Financing, Corporate & Asset Finance, Trade Finance, etc.).  

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Fundamental credit analysis and relative value analysis on new issue transactions in partnership with Investment Banking / Leveraged Finance and Credit Risk.
  • Lead due diligence process, including preparation of Q&A and internal credit briefing materials.  
  • Ongoing surveillance and risk managing of portfolio positions.   
  • Train and develop junior analysts; participate in recruiting and talent management initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Min. 4+ years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, credit research or in a sub-investment grade credit underwriting role.
  • Financial modeling and valuation analysis experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skill.
  • High level of motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups or regions.
