In New Business Group Americas, you will work with a team that provides the governance, administration and approval processes over all business that is new to Nomura. Exposure to Nomura’s extensive list of products traded on a flow basis including cash and derivatives. Work with the deal teams and corporate functions to coordinate the approval process for transactions reviewed by equity, debt and other committees. Liaise and coordinate with colleagues in EMEA, AEJ and Japan on cross border transactions.
Key objectives critical to success:
- Coordinate the review and approval process on fast-moving and complex transactions, and ensure that processes are conducted consistent with committee terms of reference
- Oversee and serve as intermediary for three transaction committees and two management committees that oversee new business.
- Organize logistics, prepare meeting minutes, monitor trade conditions, and manage escalations for transactions.
- Direct the product approval processes to ensure that new transactions are reviewed by the appropriate committee through the effective use of the product threshold guidelines
- Work with senior stakeholders to highlight and summarize potential issues, such as reputational risk concerns, and environmental, social and governance concerns
- Coordinate with global colleagues on cross border transactions and new product inquiries.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Aptitude to understand the mechanics of financial products and become a quick learner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in time sensitive pressure situations
- Must collaborate well with others and be able to adapt to a continuously changing environment.
- Candidate must be motivated to drive change, with specific focus on process re-engineering and other related project work.
- Must have the ability to interface with Front Office and various Corporate functions to resolve and/or escalate key issues throughout the day.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with senior level personnel
Essential
- Three to six years of work experience in the financial services industry
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Liberal Arts (if Business courses were part of the curriculum)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
Desirable
- Exposure to Front Office business activity in trading, sales, structuring and banking
- Exposure to multiple corporate functions and basic understanding of the activities in each
- New product approval experience
