We are looking for a Structurer to join Nomura’s Residential Mortgage Backed Securitization (RMBS) Banking Team that is part of Global Markets Securitized Products and Private Credit. The responsibilities will include structuring and related analytics for new issue securitizations as well as certain warehouse lending activities. The Banking Team provides financing solutions for specialty finance companies and investment funds that originate or acquire real property and residential mortgages including Non-QM, business purpose loans, residential transition loans, reverse mortgages, single family rental, non-performing and re-performing, credit risk transfer (including multifamily) and small balance commercial mortgages and to finance those assets through direct borrowing and securitization in the capital markets. Nomura’s Securitized Products and Private Credit business has a leading market presence and works closely with our Securitized Products sales and trading teams. The Associate/VP will be an integral part of the Banking Team and will support the team in the new issue securitization process with structuring analytics including working with the deal team, clients, investors, rating agencies, accountants, transaction attorneys, Nomura’s syndicate desk and sales and trading teams. The structuring team has dedicated and experienced professionals who will provide training for the required process and tools including Intex Dealmaker.
Role Description:
- As a dedicated structurer and member of the Banking Team, to assist with pitching and winning securitization mandates from clients and to execute those mandates through the sale of new-issue securitization bonds in the capital markets
- Structuring activities include
• running data and cash flow analytics on pools of financial assets in order to determine optimal capital structures given rating agency, market-based and tax/legal requirements
• coordinating with the deal team and the syndicate team on structures to be presented to issuers and investors • reading transaction documents to ensure that the cash flow analytics are consistent with the legal framework • tying out with accountants on cash flows and results to be included in offering materials
• creating Intex models for issuers and investors to be able to run cash flow analytics
- Assist in the preparation of presentation materials which incorporate structuring analytics
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Ability to structure and model RMBS transactions across a variety of traditional and non-traditional asset classes inclusive of real property and residential mortgages including Non-QM, business purpose / investor loans, residential transition loans, reverse mortgages, single family rental, non-performing and re-performing mortgages, credit risk transfer (including multifamily) and small balance commercial mortgage.
- Experience building cash flow models from scratch in Excel or using Intex DealMaker and the capacity to utilize models to understand and test deal structures.
- Prior experience working with the major rating agencies, understanding rating agency methodology, and the ability to interface with rating agencies to get transactions rated.
- Ability and experience training and managing analysts in analytical methodologies, ranging from data tape scrubbing to stratification reporting.
- Organized individual who is able to manage work steams across multiple transactions and deal teams and thrive in a fast-moving environment with tight timelines
- Extremely detail oriented and precision minded
- Strong analytical skills and enjoys working with numbers, including the ability to develop cash flow models and perform data analysis
- Strong communications skills (verbal and written) – ability to interact confidently with the team, clients, investors, rating agencies, attorneys and accountants
- Interest in the wider Capital Markets and Investment Banking industry including key trends and market dynamics
