Department overview

As part of its efforts to expand its investment management business in the Americas and enhance its overall offering, Nomura Holding America Inc. has established a new business line – Nomura Capital Management (NCM). NCM will focus on providing RIAs and their clients with access to private markets.  The first strategy brought to market provides diversified exposure to private credit sectors through a closed-end interval fund structure. The second fund launched is a private credit drawdown strategy.  Additional products/strategies will be developed in other private markets such as real estate, infrastructure, private equity or venture capital (e.g., potentially including non-traded REIT/BDCs, open/closed-end private funds or similar structures).

Role Description

As a Vice President, Private Credit Investment Specialist within Nomura Capital Management, you will serve in a critical role communicating the investment strategy and building relationships between our portfolio management teams, U.S. intermediary and institutional distribution teams, and our global client base.  In this role, collaboration between all departments within the business (including investments, sales, legal, compliance, operations, marketing, and C-suite) will allow you to have a unique position to understand all aspects of portfolio investments, understand client goals, and business considerations related to fee economics, vehicle choice, and marketing strategy.  In addition, the team will benefit from your ability to provide thought leadership, client communications, and media engagement.   The private credit business within NCM is in a rapid growth phase of development, and this position offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where your skills, experience, and career development will be highly valued as you take on a wide scope of responsibilities.

This role will play a pivotal role by sitting within the investment team, though supporting our continued growth in the intermediary and drawdown fund space and serve as a resource to various investors, intermediary partners and third-party service providers, intermediary and institutional distribution teams, and other internal stakeholders. The role emphasizes operational excellence, process improvement, and collaboration, particularly in communicating a clear message regarding investment strategy, and managing relationships with intermediaries.
This position will also focus on streamlining processes, ensuring alignment between internal teams (Investment, Sales, and Operations).

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain our collective private credit book of business – client materials and communications, updates with the distribution teams, and thought leadership and media communications - across two strategies: an asset based lending strategy that opportunistically invests in asset based consumer, asset based corporate and real estate debt in a drawdown vehicle, and an open architecture interval fund employing a diversified private credit strategy across direct lending, real estate, asset based lending and specialty finance.
  • Client communications will include everything from assisting marketing with updating client decks, factsheets and “DDQs”, leading the response to client inquiries and RFPs, and presenting to clients both current and prospective.  Our U.S. institutional client base includes corporate pension funds, state and government sponsored investment funds, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, as well as family offices.  Our U.S. Intermediary Distribution team focuses on the ‘RIA’ market (“Registered Investment Advisor”).
  • Collaborate with the distribution teams and investment teams to initiate relationships with new clients and expand mandates with existing ones. Secure additional commitments for current mandates, maintain existing relationships, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with our platform and model, and establish connections with senior investment professionals in the industry.
  • Facilitate business planning within NCM as it relates to the two private credit strategies and future products, performing quarterly/annual/ad hoc reviews while maintaining regular contact with key clients.
  • Deliver clear and concise platform overviews, market views, investment performance updates, and providing insightful interpretations of near-term economic and relevant external events that may impact client portfolios. Identify opportunities where our private credit strategies can be efficiently utilized in client allocations.
  • Understand client investment goals and objectives and provide thought leadership and develop content for targeted marketing strategies, panel/conference speaking engagements, or topic specific “white papers” in partnership with the NCM Marketing team.
  • Understand competitor landscape and provide insights and drive messaging on how to position our strategies vs. the competition.
  • Lead efforts for new product development in partnership with the investment team, operations, compliance and legal departments within NCM.
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with the distribution teams, investment teams, research, portfolio managers, legal, compliance, marketing and other key stakeholders across the firm.
  • Responsibilities in this role DO NOT include sales targets, new business development targets, or lead generation for the institutional or intermediary sales teams.
