The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $160,000 - $190,000 per year* (see below footnote for additional compensation and benefits information).

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Ownership & Leadership

  • Act as Technical Owner for a collection of existing and new components within the Prime Equity Finance space
  • Own and manage an agile development process for the local team
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development team
  • Provide leadership to local team of developers while remaining hands-on

Development & Architecture

  • Produce robust, tested, modern components utilizing modern technologies and methodologies
  • Own development of Java applications, ensuring focus on correctness, resilience and quality
  • Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle, from initial discussions through to design, development, testing, deployment
  • Conduct code reviews and design reviews to ensure best practices and high standards are followed
  • Follow global development/change management standards to deliver quality enhancements/solutions in timely manner

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with traders and operations as part of a team to understand their needs and create technical solutions
  • Be a good team player to ensure a cohesive culture to effectively solve local/global business problem while building strategic platform for Global Equities
  • Ability to cope with dynamic front-office business needs, stakeholder communication and to deal with changing priorities both from business and technology
  • Ability to communicate and act professionally with IT staff and business clients whilst under strict deadlines

Global Collaboration

  • Be part of a global team with members in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Mumbai, London, and New York, contributing to collective goals and supporting colleagues
  • Collaborate on projects across other technology, business, client and vendor teams
  • Ability to work with global teams in matrix reporting environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Document discussions / solutions / processes and track development and issues using Confluence and Jira
  • Share ideas/observations/improvements with the global team

Production Support

  • Primary support is covered by a separate Production Services team; however, at times you may need to assist Production Services and traders to resolve issues and to document postmortems and to own follow ups
  • Help ensure maximum uptime of systems and minimize impact to businesses when issues occur

 


Required Qualifications:

Education & Core Experience

  • Provide leadership and functional expertise to the local NY Prime Equity Finance development team
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science / Engineering / Math / Physics or similar
  • 10-15 years demonstrable experience of hands-on development experience
  • Minimum 7+ years hands-on Java/C++/C#/Rust/Python development
  • Strong domain knowledge of Securities Lending, including trade lifecycle, locate/availability management, collateral processing, rate calculation and funding
  • Knowledge of Equity Synthetics and Equity Trading workflows

 

Technical Skills - Mandatory

  • Java: Java 21, Collections, Spring Boot 3, Java Streams API, concurrency, profiling, garbage collection, JDBC, JMS
  • Databases: Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL / Stored Procedures), query plan optimization
  • NoSQL: Experience with NoSQL DBs like MongoDB and in-memory caching technology like Redis
  • Messaging: Experience with messaging and streaming data infrastructure
  • Design: Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns, including user experience driven UI development
  • DevOps: Experience deploying microservices to Docker/Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure: Understanding of infrastructure tooling and best practices

 

Technical Skills - Preferred

  • Web/UI: HTML5 frameworks: React, Redux, Websockets, CSS/Tailwind/Ag Grid
  • Streaming: Kafka/Pulsar, streaming / reactive programming, serialization protocols, error handling, work distribution
  • Stream Processing: Real world experience with Risingwave/Flink/Kafka Streams/Spark
  • Integration: Enterprise Integration Patterns, Apache Camel
  • Cloud: Experience with AWS, S3, Lambda
  • CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Observability/Telemetry
  • Containers: Docker/Podman, Kubernetes
  • Unix: Bash scripting, system and process monitoring
  • Data Science: Python, Pandas, Graphing Plotly, Machine Learning SciPy
  • Optimization: Linear Programming and ML techniques
  • Data Analytics: Experience using KDB / Clickhouse / Snowflake
  • Workflow: BPMN / Camunda
  • AI: Agentic agent development, best practices, guardrails and integration into the developer and system workflows
