Department Overview:
Risk Management supports Nomura to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the firm, providing independent advice to the Board and protecting the firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, operational and other risks.
The Operational Risk Management (ORM) function is part of the Risk Management organization and is responsible for:
- Developing operational risk frameworks and policies
- Provide independent oversight over operational risks and challenge First Line of Defense
- Monitor risk appetite compliance
- Report to senior management and committees
Role Description:
This role will be part of the team overseeing the Investment Management Division (IMD) in the US and contributing to the global coverage team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to the global Operational Risk Management function and Risk Management department to develop and maintain best in class technical, business and administrative practices
- Responsible for global operational risk coverage of assigned businesses, providing technical expertise and driving consistency in the application of risk and control assessment
- Provide senior leadership and governance forums with appropriate information regarding the Operational Risk exposures, control effectiveness and remedial actions.
- Lead special projects / initiatives regionally or globally.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Five or more years of relevant financial services risk management experience with exposure to Asset Management businesses
- Solid understanding of principles and tools for assessing and managing operational risks.
- Understanding of risk and control issues impacting Asset Management business lines.
- Experience in 1LOD, 2LOD or 3LOD in covering risk and control issues in Asset Management
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to produce concise and effective presentations.
