Department Overview:
Nomura's Treasury function in the US is responsible for ensuring that US entities are appropriately funded in compliance with liquidity risk appetite whilst minimizing financial risks and optimizing costs.
Role description:
The Liquidity Management framework is applied on a Global basis and is used as the primary driver to determine the firm’s Funding Plan and associated Funds Transfer Pricing policy and approach.
The individual will be a member of the Regional Liquidity Management & Reporting team working in close collaboration with the Global Liquidity Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding the activities of regional business lines / booked into regional entities and the resource implications of those activities
- Assessing liquidity risks arising from the above activities
- Ensuring that the internal liquidity risk management framework appropriately captures the above risks and proposing changes as required
- Understanding regulatory requirements and ensuring that activities are appropriately captured in regulatory liquidity models
- Daily review and validation of internal and regulatory liquidity stress testing and associated MIS
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal liquidity requirements (in conjunction with the funding desk)
- Explaining the liquidity risk framework to internal and external stakeholders
- Analyzing new products / trade structures to assess liquidity risk and provide advice on resource utilization / optimization
- Partner with business on monitoring, optimizing and forecasting financial resource usage
- Leveraging technology / driving change to create more impactful MIS and operate more efficiently
- Presenting Liquidity Management matters at the US Asset Liability Committee
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative / analytical discipline
- At least 7 years of experience in Risk / Finance / Treasury with focus on Liquidity Management functions in a bank or broker-dealer
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work with data and financial information
- Proficiency in Excel and data analytics tools such as Alteryx / Tableau / PowerBI
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills to present complex concepts to regional and global stakeholders at all levels
- Proven ability to lead change and coordinate projects across regions and departments
- Knowledge of local and global liquidity regulations including LCR, NSFR
