Department overview:
The role of Risk Management is to support and influence senior management in the execution of its business strategy of increasing shareholder returns and optimising the firm's return on capital whilst ensuring capital adequacy.
The Americas Risk Management department provides independent oversight of risk taking, as part of the firm’s management strategy to control various risks inherent in daily operations, inclusive of but not limited to market risk, credit risk and operational risk. Risk Management works closely with all areas of the firm including: Wholesale (Global Markets, Investment Banking), Asset Management and Corporate divisions.
Role Overview:
The Business Management group is responsible for supporting the senior management of the Risk department in managing the department. This role will report to the Chief Administrative Officer locally.
The role is part of small team, with support from office managers/administration personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
The junior business manager will support the Chief Administrative Officer with:
Departmental Financial Management:
Departmental budgeting, forecasting, budget to actuals analysis and management reporting
Management accounting, primarily business and project cost allocations
Oversight / review of financial accounting and associated controls, including accruals, expenses,T&E
Coordination of personnel related matters with senior leaders across the department and Corporate HR
- Headcount management - hire approvals, headcount tracking and reporting
- Development of departmental wide training programs
- Advancement, performance management and compensation
- Diversity and Inclusion initiatives
- Intern and graduate hire programs
- Consultants and temporary staff contracting and management
Communications:
- Responsible for all departmental communications (townhalls, intranet, notices, newsletters, etc)
- Coordinate departmental management meetings (set agenda, materials etc)
- Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and boards
- Coordination of departmental events
General:
- Coordinate with Sourcing and Legal departments as required
- Business continuity plan ownership and testing
- Office management and general administration
There will also be growth opportunities to engage in other areas as responsibility for the COO.
Qualifications:
- Required: bachelors in relevant subject or suitable qualifying experience Knowledge:
- Proficient with Microsoft suite, notably excel and powerpoint
- Preferred: Experience / Understanding of Risk Management departmental responsibilities
- Preferred: Working knowledge of financial and management accounting
- Preferred: Work experience in financial services, ideally in a similar role
- Associate requirements: At least three years of work experience in financial services, ideally in a similar role

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple projects, and manage strict deadlines
- Good stakeholder management skills - ability to develop and maintain strong and mutually supportive working relationships both inside and outside of immediate team and the Risk Management department.
- Can work effectively in a local and global team environment
