Corporate Technology Services undertake planning, analysis, development, project and delivery management and testing of technology services to support the operations of the Nomura Group
 

 

Role Description

 

The role requires a high-caliber, hands on, experienced Java developer with a background in developing services, interfaces and database models in post trade processing. Repo, OTC, MSFTA and Stock Borrow Loans product knowledge would be an advantage.

 

The successful candidate will join a global technology team responsible for the transformation of the existing platform and the development of new solutions. The team has excellent relationships with its global business sponsors and offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with several business and technology units across the firm

 

The role will consist of building out new services in addition to enhancements to the existing application platform, with the right candidate having a good deal of autonomy to improve the platform and provide technical guidance and reviews for others in the global team.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Developing and reviewing solutions aligned to the application roadmap, replacing and updating existing application components. Liaising with on-shore and off-shore change and development leads in both the Middle Office and Technology in addition to the L3/RTB.
  •  
  • Provide expertise and technical solutions to the Collateral Technology function. This will involve:
  • Reviewing user stories and requirements and providing technical feedback on these.
  • Authoring and reviewing functional and technical designs based on business requirements/user stories with a view to having these used by development teams
  • Facilitating the ongoing development (including assisting the team with code reviews) and being a point of escalation for issues and questions throughout the project lifecycle with the business and providing technical domain expertise into the team
  • Providing input to the platform roadmap and delivery to agreed timescales and requirements for the margining platforms. This will involve:
  • Tracking and maintaining progress against Epics and Tasks.
  • Manage technical governance including highlighting and providing solutions to any potential risks/issues, delays and scope creep as well as status reporting and updates to internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring delivery of these items of work to Nomura development standards and adhering to all development lifecycle processes
  • Regional L3 escalation coverage
  • As part of the global application team, providing regional technical SME input to the Production Services / L2 teams

 

 

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

 

  • Meaningful experience of Java server side, Microservice and system interface development
    • Java 8/11
    • Spring
  • API development
  • Messaging Services (MQ or JMS)
  • RDBMS Databases (MSSQL or Oracle)
  • Experience of Continuous Integration and Build Repositories
  • Agile development methods & test driven development

 

The candidate is expected to be proficient in DevOps toolchains (GITLab, Jenkins build and deploy, automated testing) and should be fully embracing and be an advocate of Agile working practices.

 

Any previous experience of the TIBCO BusinessWorks platform would be a plus, as a primary goal with the transformation of the application is to migrate away from this platform.

 

In addition, any experience or willingness to learn React/Angular UI development and Containerization implementations and deployments would be a plus.
