Debt Capital Markets / 4(a)(2) US Private Placements Associate

Opportunity to join the Americas Debt Capital Markets team, within Nomura’s Investment Banking Division. Become an integral Part of the 4(a)(2) US Private Placement team buildout involved in the origination and execution (syndication and placement) of USPP mandates. Join a growing franchise within Nomura, leveraging vast experience and track record of the USPP product, strong execution capabilities and investor relationships. Work in conjunction with the coverage teams in Investment Banking with particular focus around Project Finance / Infrastructure, FIG, and Japanese Corporates along with US/UK debt advisory and Infrastructure Power Finance (IPF) within Global Markets. Assist with the buildout of US Infrastructure Debt Advisory in conjunction with PDS and NomuraGreentech. Nomura’s US Private Placement business is a core focus of the bank, representing a substantial growth opportunity for Nomura.

 

What Role Might You Play?

  • Deal Execution: Work closely with clients and senior-level bankers to pitch and execute 4(a)(2) transactions. Develop a deep understanding and network with USPP investors and infrastructure debt funds. Support in all phases of transaction execution
  • Client Relationship Management & Deliverables: Generate and present marketing materials and ideas at client meetings as a member of the deal team, alongside senior bankers. Day to day involvement in pitch creation, structuring and modelling on behalf of clients.
  • Strategic Analysis: Thorough company diligence, financial, structural, and business risk analysis to support transactions and client presentations
  • Team Management and Development: Manage Analyst(s) to execute deliverables for clients and support the training and mentoring of junior professionals. Work closely with other product and industry and geographical coverage teams
  • New Business Development: Actively participate in the effort to pitch and win new USPP mandates from clients, leverage proprietary content and ideas.

 

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of investment banking experience; debt capital markets and US Private Placements experience a plus
  • Project finance and infrastructure exposure including modeling a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset  
  • Outstanding academic qualifications
  • Desire to learn and contribute to originating and executing high profile and unique mandates across 4(a)(2) USPPs and infrastructure debt advisory
  • Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups or regions
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment in order to meet deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication & interpersonal skills – ability to interact confidently with clients and other professionals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional technical and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Bloomberg; experience with AI applications a plus
  • SIE and Series 63 and 79 (Series 7 a plus)
