Department Overview
The International Investment Management Strategy team shapes Nomura’s near and long-term strategy. We work closely with senior leadership on a range of management initiatives including business expansion strategy, mergers & acquisitions, market & competitor analysis, business planning and performance reviews, and client strategy. Our team works directly with Senior Management to determine strategies for achieving Nomura’s Investment Management goals across businesses and regions in a rapidly changing market environment.
Role Description
As an Executive Director, you will be a key member of Nomura’s Investment Management Strategy team, focusing on strategic initiatives internationally. You will work closely with global and regional Investment Management leadership, as well as key Corporate teams such as Finance, Planning, and Marketing. This role reports to the Head of Strategy for International Investment Management and collaborates with the Head of Investment Management Americas, the Wholesale Chief Strategy Officer, and Regional and Group Senior Management.
The candidate’s primary responsibilities are expected to include:

Drive strategic initiatives for long-term business growth and positioning of the International Investment Management franchise

Prepare management presentations, including business plans, reviews, and offsite presentations

Identify, analyze and monitor issues affecting profitability, growth, and productivity

Conduct competitor/industry research and analysis using public and non-public sources

Research and analyze business profitability, macroeconomic indicators, and client segments

Conduct acquisition screening and strategic due diligence to support business growth

Collaborate with other Strategy teams and the IM Planning Team on firm-wide initiatives
Skills and Experience Required
-
Minimum 7 years of experience in a strategy role, either in consulting or an asset manager’s strategy/business planning unit

Deep industry knowledge and familiarity with all aspects of investment management

Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact confidently with senior leadership

Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling and data analysis

Ability to lead multiple projects and initiatives

Experience working with global teams on firm-wide and cross-divisional initiatives
