Job Purpose

NCM is seeking a marketing/sales professional in its Institutional Distribution team in New York City. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment in NCM’s North American institutional asset management business. NCM works closely with its affiliates, $33 billion NYC-based credit boutique Nomura Corporate Research and Asset Management (NCRAM), and Nomura Asset Management, a $600 billion global asset management firm.

 

Job Responsibilities

The individual should have experience in a business development capacity and be able to:

  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan around the products and investor base.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers and product specialists to articulate and differentiate NCM’s capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Have frequent communication with prospective investors in order to identify new areas for business development.
  • Expand coverage of mid-size consultants and investors with the goal of  obtaining/improving ratings and increasing sales of various NCM strategies.
  • Manage the sales cycle and be accountable for identifying, qualifying, attracting, and closing business with mid-size institutional investors and consultants in North America.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Have RFP ownership for prospective investors in region. Coordinate with RFP team, portfolio managers, product specialists, operations, legal and other individuals to ensure its completion.
  • Actively maintain and update the firm’s CRM with meeting notes, prospect communication and follow-up and prospect pipelines.

 

Qualification & Core Skills requirement

  • 5+ years of experience in a business development capacity in the institutional asset management business.
  • A successful track record in raising capital for fixed income/credit (preferred) and/or equity related strategies or an understanding of the landscape and investors from CPM role or client relationship management.
  • Experience working with U.S. and Canadian institutional investors, with the focus primarily on mid-size plans and consultants.
  • Experience working with field consultants and understanding of the process to get the strategies rated.
  • Teamwork and collaborate across different areas of the firm, be self-motivated, innovative and solution minded, with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal and external counterparties.
  • Willingness to travel
  • Series 7 and Series 63 licenses preferred, or completion within first 6 months of employment.
