Investment Banking Senior Associate Role Overview

Our New York M&A group collaborates with global strategic and financial sponsor clients on sell-side and buy-side transactions, with a particular emphasis on cross-border and complex transactions.

 

As a Senior Associate in the M&A Group, you will play a critical role in providing advisory services on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives. You will work closely with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, and colleagues from other Industry and Product teams to support and execute transactions. This role offers significant exposure to live deal execution, client interaction, and leadership opportunities within internal deal teams.

 

What Role Might You Play and Desired Skillset

 

Deal Execution:

  • Collaborate with clients and internal execution teams on live M&A transactions
  • Demonstrate a self-starter attitude and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to independently lead due diligence processes and develop high-quality pitch materials
  • Advanced valuation and financial modelling expertise, including proficiency in DCF, LBO and accretion / dilution analyses
  • Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities to handle multiple workstreams under tight deadlines

 

 

 

 

 

 

Client Relationship Management and Business Development:

  • Actively contribute to idea generation and present strategic recommendations during client meetings as part of a collaborative deal team, working closely with senior bankers
  • Develop relationships with corporate clients and private equity sponsors to support ongoing business development efforts

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication abilities, with a strong capacity to distill complex financial concepts into clear, client-facing deliverables

 

Team Management and Development:

  • Lead and oversee analysts while coordinating with other Industry and Product groups to deliver high-quality client work. Actively contribute to the training, development, and mentorship of junior team members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple deal teams and workflows concurrently, while serving as a mentor and role model for analysts and associates

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum required: 3 years of prior investment banking experience in an investment banking M&A role
  • DCF, LBO, accretion / dilution modeling skills
  • Advanced valuation, financial and accounting acumen
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, FactSet, and Dealogic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Series 73 and 69 required
  • Outstanding academic qualifications
