Role Description

 

This role supports the Global Execution Services business line and requires a fundamental understanding of Execution Services and associated Product Controller responsibilities. The ideal Product Controller will be highly attentive to detail and risk, uphold a strong control environment, and be able to drive interaction with stakeholders from numerous functions and regions.

Global Execution Service business line primarily consist of the Instinet Business. As the agency-model execution services arm of the Nomura Group, Instinet Incorporated subsidiaries provide brokerage services to clients in over 60 markets around the world. This is a unique role, as although Instinet is headquartered in N.Y., it has entities across all regions. As such, the role is a blend of regional and global responsibilities. The Nomura Group is committed to fully integrating its support functions for Nomura and Instinet, and this is a newly created position will help play a leadership role in that for revenue relates responsibilities.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Initial one-time responsibilities:

    • Evaluate current processes, and complete tactical and strategic improvement efforts.

    • Migrate current-state Instinet product controller responsibilities into one team.

    • Integrate Instinet’s product controller related responsibilities to comply with Nomura Group policies and procedures.

  • Ongoing regular responsibilities:

    • Daily P&L Reporting, Flash to Actual analysis, Front-to-Back reconciliations, P&L Commentary, verification of manual adjustments, and Balance Sheet Attestation.

    • Close interaction with the Instinet trading desk, Operations and other support functions as needed to resolve booking, valuation and financial resource usage related queries.

    • P&L review including: FOBO reconciliations, Flash to Actual explanations and Attribution analysis.

    • Understanding daily summary of funding charges, including day-over-day variance analysis.

    • Understanding and motivation to resolve all manual adjustments.

    • Ensuring proper controls are in place as measured by KRI metrics.

    • Monthly responsibilities include: Closing of the firm’s books and records, including required manual journal entries and Balance Sheet substantiation; reconciliation of monthly FO P&L to General ledger; completion of various financial reporting schedules.

    • Interact with Product Control / Finance teams in other regions to understand all aspects of Instinet Revenue and be primary interface with Business and Corporate leaders on results.

 

 

Experience /Qualifications/Education

 

  • 6-10 years of Execution Services or Equities focused Product Control experience

  • BS in Finance, Economics or Accounting

  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, results oriented environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong Excel and Access skills. Fluency in VB a plus

  • Team player, proactive, self-starter, who can be dynamic and detailed oriented
