Nomura’s Brokerage Commissions and Expenses Team in the Americas works with senior leadership in the day-to-day operations of Finance, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury.

 

 

Role Description / Areas of Responsibility

 

Nomura’s Brokerage Commissions and Expenses team, in the Americas, is looking for Junior financial analyst to join the team.  The candidate will work with the existing team lead and business leadership across Finance, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury in day-to-day operations and executing business strategy.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence across Americas Brokerage Commissions and Expense areas. Position will report directly to Americas team lead and plays a critical role to assist in increasing productivity, efficiency and profitability.

 

 

Job Duties

 

  • Day-to-day financial and accounting oversight and execution working closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance, and Treasury.
  • Continue the implementation of financial and accounting best practices and oversees critical accounting procedures for all BCE (Brokerage, Commissions and Expenses) charges across Nomura.
  • Trading Venue Rates – capturing and updating fee rate changes from various exchanges (NYSE Exchanges, NASDAQ, CBOE, MEMX)
  • Support the month-end close by posting journal entries and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with rebates / invoice reconciliations to ensure effective controls.
  • Perform semi-manual cash management reconciliations for incoming rebates payments.
  • Maintain an accurate filling and record-keeping system for rebates / invoices and company documents.
  • Review and process payments made to exchanges, clients, vendors, and other business partners.
  • Maintain strong relationships across all business leaders and employees.

 

 

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from accredited college/university
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytics, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an eagerness to learn on the fly
  • Enthusiasm for both quantitative-driven and qualitative-focused situations
  • Ability to develop understanding of financial products and be a part of fast-paced team.
  • Eagerness to learn and work hard as part of a structured team
