Department Overview

 

The Electronic and Algorithmic Trading Risk Function sits within Market Risk and is responsible for operating the Firm’s Global governance framework.

The function provides 2nd line oversight and challenge of electronic and algorithmic trading activity across Rates, FX, Credit, Equities and F&O businesses. These businesses operate across all regions including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, the UK and the US. 

 

 

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Support global governance aspects relating to the EAT Risk Framework including:

    • Development and maintenance of Risk owned Policies and Procedures

    • Support the running of Risk Committees

    • Production of Management Information

  • Primary coverage and focus will be supporting the US Equities business, which includes:

    • Nomura’s principal trading algo strategies

    • Instinet execution services

  • Contribute to the continued development of the Algo Control Framework and work with key stakeholders to embed new processes

  • Undertaking technical regulatory analysis to assess potential gaps and define solutions which can embedded effectively within the Risk Management Framework

  • Facilitate annual control and limit attestation processes

  • Review and analyze Electronic Trading relevant incidents and facilitate reviews of lessons learned and cross-functional reviews.

  • Review new Electronic Trading Systems or material changes to existing systems.

 

 

Skills Required

 

  • At least 3 years’ relevant E-Trading/ Algorithmic experience in one of the following function: E-Trading, Technology, Technology Risk, Compliance or Operational Risk Management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of management

  • An ability to remain objective and to independently raise areas of risk exposure

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders including compliance, legal, internal audit, risk managements and senior business partners.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deliverables.

  • Working knowledge of the following:

    • Equities E-Trading Markets

    • E-trading specific regulation (MiFID II, PRA, FCA, CFTC, Dodd Frank, MAR etc.)

    • E-trading workflows: algorithmic trading strategies, smart order routing, order management systems, auto hedging, pricing and RFQs, dark pools, FIX protocol etc.

    • Fundamentals of IT change, Technology platforms and standard control requirements

 

 

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.
