Department Overview:

The Wholesale Events department is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of client-facing events for Nomura. Our primary mission is to create and deliver high-impact experiences that strengthen client relationships, enhance brand reputation, and support the broader business objectives of Nomura.

 

Role Description / Areas of responsibility:

We are seeking a motivated and highly organized Vice President Event Manager to join our team. This role encompasses event planning, strategic development, and operational execution for our financial services organization, combining advanced event strategy and management expertise to deliver exceptional corporate events and conferences.

 

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

Event Strategy Development

  • Design and implement event strategies for various stakeholder groups
  • Manage comprehensive event calendars and strategic roadmaps for annual planning cycles
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure event success and ROI using Cvent

Event Management & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute conferences, corporate events, and client entertainment activities
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics including venue selection, vendor coordination, and on-site execution
  • Oversee audio-visual requirements, food and beverage services, and catering operations
  • Oversee budget planning, allocation, and financial performance across all events
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications team on integrated marketing and communication strategies
  • Ensure seamless event delivery from initial concept through post-event analysis

Registration & Database Management

  • Manage the end-to-end registration process, including setting up registration forms and managing attendee data
  • Maintain and manage registration databases, ensuring all participant information is kept confidential and accurate
  • Provide on-site registration support and help with post-event reporting

Communication & Administrative Support

  • Draft and distribute invitations, confirmation emails, reminders, and other essential communications to registered attendees
  • Assist with on-site registration and check-in procedures, including distributing event materials and addressing attendee questions
  • Handle daily administrative tasks, including tracking event history, managing event databases, and assisting with monthly reports
  • Manage the Nomura event closet, including inventory and organization of promotional items

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, ensuring optimal value and service delivery
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, venues, and service providers
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and business units

Budget Management

  • Support the team in managing event budgets and processing expense reports
  • Track corporate event and team expenses

 

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of conference planning experience required, with demonstrated success in large-scale event execution
  • Financial services industry event experience mandatory
  • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder events in fast-paced environments

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, with relevant certifications in event management or hospitality a plus
  • Understanding of financial services regulatory environment and client relationship protocols

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.
