Nomura Asset Management U.S.A. (“NAM-USA”) provides investment advisory and investment management services primarily to institutional clients. NAM-USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nomura Asset Management Co., Ltd, (“NAM-Tokyo”). NAM-Tokyo is one of the largest asset management firms in Japan. NAM-Tokyo is owned by Nomura Holdings, Inc. (“NHI”) a Japanese public company. Nomura Asset Management U.S.A. Inc. has been registered as an investment adviser with the SEC since 1976. NAM-USA is also registered as a Portfolio Manager with several Canadian provinces.

 

NAM-USA provides discretionary and non-discretionary investment advisory services primarily to institutional clients such as U.S. and non-U.S. corporate pension plans, U.S. registered investment companies (open and closed end), and other pooled investment vehicles. We act as a sub-adviser to one or more Nomura Asset Management (“NAM”) affiliates. NAM-USA offers equity and fixed income investment strategies to support the diverse needs of our clients.

 

Japan marketing department has two major roles, a promotional function and a liaison function between NAM-TK and affiliated parties in the USA.

As a promotional function, Japan marketing seeks to launch new mutual funds in Japan, provides information to the existing products for both retail and institutional clients, and provide any information inquired as client service function.

 

As a liaison function, Japan marketing takes a roll of a “translator” between Japan and the USA for the sake of smooth communication for conducting the businesses.

 

 

Role Description / Areas of Responsibility

 

1. Promotion activity supports

 - New mutual fund products and strategies

 - Existing products

 - Client Service function (monthly portfolio data provisions, etc)

 - Translation between English and Japanese (translation of reports, websites, and videos, etc)

Promotion activity includes 4 roles mentioned above. These activities require the skillset to understand the product concept, to create pitch books and presentation materials, to analyze the capital markets and individual securities. Additionally the ability to analyze/understand portfolio data is necessary. The candidate is required to have broad knowledge of the capital markets or/and mutual fund products.  

2. Liaison function between Japan and the USA

Working as a liaison between NAM-TK and investment management companies in the USA, the candidate is required to have the high level of standards to understand the issues and communicate accurately with affiliated parties.

 

 

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

 

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience, ideally at asset management firms or securities firms.
  • Analytical capabilities to review portfolio performance data, financial markets, individual stocks, and an ability to tailor messages to the clients.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg.
  • Must be native level in Japanese and above business level in English. More than 3 years of work experience with using English and Japanese.

 

*base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
