Department overview:
The US Finance Technology Group (FTG), which is part of Corporate Technology Services (CTS), supports the Finance department.
Role Description:
FTG is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to work on various transformation initiatives in support of the Finance Department.
The successful candidate shall be able to quickly learn the relevant systems in place at Nomura and shall participate in multiple projects running concurrently.
Responsibilities shall include:
- Experience working on financial systems (Ledgers, Data Marts, etc)
- Gathering and analyzing business requirements and creating functional and technical specifications
- Locating data sources and data elements required for business process automation
- Strong back around in Finance Accounting and creation of journals
- Preparing technical data mapping documents from source files/tables to target
- Drafting test cases for unit testing as well as integration testing and UAT
- Working closely with Finance users, SMEs, Project Managers, other Business Analysts, and IT Developers across a global team
- Being accountable for successful system delivery
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in Finance IT projects
- Strong understanding of SDLC best practices; experience with Agile methodologies
- Experience writing BRDs, FSDs and technical specifications
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation
- Experienced in writing SQL queries for data inspection and analysis (Oracle preferred)
- Strong Knowledge of domestic and international Equity and Fixed Income products and Derivatives and Secured Financing transactions
- Understanding of trade lifecycle and relationship to accounting events
- Knowledge of Finance and Accounting, US GAAP for broker dealers, familiarity with financial statements and processes including balance sheet presentation and P&L reconciliation and reporting
- Experience with accounting rules engines, including business event recognition, journal patterns, and automated journal creation
- Experience with GL systems and related processes (PeopleSoft GL is a plus)
Desired skills:
- Knowledge of Aldan Asset Management platform is desirable
- Knowledge of XML
- Data modelling
