The Equities Index Flow Trading department is a core component of the Global Equities division, specializing in providing liquidity, managing risk, and executing trades in equity index-related products. This dynamic and fast-paced team operates across global markets, playing a vital role in facilitating client activity and driving the firm’s success in the equity derivatives and cash equities space.

 

 

Role Description

 

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Equity Index Flow Trader to join our Trading team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing trades in equity index products, including futures, options, and ETFs. This role requires a deep understanding of equity markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.

 

 

Job Duties

 

  • Execute trades in equity index products, such as index futures, options, and ETFs, in accordance with the firm's trading strategies

  • Monitor and manage order flow to optimize execution and minimize market impact

  • Ensure timely and accurate trade execution while adhering to risk limits and compliance requirements

  • Analyze market trends, order flow, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities and inform trading decisions

  • Collaborate with research analysts and other traders to gather insights and develop market views

  • Manage and mitigate trading risks by monitoring positions, assessing market conditions, and adjusting strategies as needed

  • Implement effective hedging strategies to protect the firm's portfolio against adverse market movements

  • Work closely with the sales team to understand client needs and provide market insights and trading solutions

  • Execute client orders and provide timely feedback on market conditions and trade execution

  • Develop and refine trading strategies to enhance profitability and capitalize on market opportunities

  • Utilize quantitative models and tools to support trading decisions and optimize performance

  • Ensure all trading activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies

  • Maintain accurate records of trades and generate regular reports for senior management and risk committees

 

 

Skills, Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in equity index trading, with a strong track record of performance

  • In-depth knowledge of equity index products, market structure, and trading strategies

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis and modeling

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure

  • Proficiency in trading platforms and software, such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced trading environment

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, economic indicators, and global financial trends

  • Proficiency in managing and mitigating trading risks

  • Commitment to understanding and meeting client needs

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative trading strategies
