Role Overview
Nomura is seeking an exceptional C++/C# Developer to join our Equities Derivatives Trading Technology team, focusing on a critical greenfield Market Data service. This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated engineer to build a foundational service that will underpin all market data consumption across the bank's trading applications.
We are looking for a true engineering expert with a deep understanding of data structures, a passion for writing clean, performant code, and a proven track record of owning and supporting the systems they build. The ideal candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert in market data and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
Key Role Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement a high-performance, low-latency market data service from the ground up using C++ and C#.
- Collaborate closely with trading desks, quants, and other technology teams to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure optimal integration.
- Take full ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design and development through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
- Act as a go-to expert for all aspects of market data within the firm, providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality solutions within tight deadlines.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Solid professional experience in C++ and C# development, with a strong emphasis on performance optimization and low-latency systems.
- Exceptional grasp of fundamental computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Demonstrable experience in designing and building scalable, high-performance, and resilient distributed systems.
- Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and WebSocket interfaces.
- Strong understanding of market data concepts, including various market data feeds, protocols, and their application in trading systems.
- Good knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including database design, optimization, and querying.
- Experience with streaming event processors (e.g., Kafka, Flink) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with financial markets, particularly Equities Derivatives, is a significant plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective resolutions in a production environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience with React (TypeScript/JavaScript) for UI development is a strong advantage.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Prior experience in a front-office trading technology environment.
