Divisional Overview:
The Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a key role in defining and implementing the firm's data strategy and is responsible for defining and overseeing effective data, Cloud and AI governance for Nomura to enable data-driven regulatory compliance, data risk mitigation and improved data usability for analytics and AI. It is the central authority overseeing the Business and Corporate functions in complying with data, Cloud and AI governance requirements.

AI Governance and Digitization Lead is a strategic role responsible for overseeing an organization's digital transformation and the responsible, compliant, and value-driven adoption of Artificial Intelligence. This position balances innovation with risk management, ensuring that AI initiatives align with business objectives, ethical standards, and evolving legal requirements

Job Responsibilities

- Technology Implementation & Tooling: Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of AI governance technology solutions specifically for advanced AI technologies like Generative AI, Agentic AI, Agents / Multi-Agent systems etc. Develop technical specifications and integration requirements to embed the advanced AI technology solutions as part of the overall AI governance tooling implementations.
- Risk Management: Conduct AI risk assessments and impact analyses to identify and mitigate potential risks such as bias, privacy violations, security vulnerabilities, and ethical concerns. Implement automated risk scoring mechanisms, bias detection tools, and continuous monitoring dashboards to scale risk management capabilities.
- Initiative Management & Digital Program Delivery: Act as the business owner for piloting AI technologies and digitization initiatives, managing project timelines, budgets, and the eventual roll-out of successful programs across the organization. Apply agile methodologies and project management frameworks to deliver governance automation projects.
- Process Digitization & Automation: Map current manual AI governance processes and design digitized workflows using tools such as workflow engines, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and low-code/no-code platforms. Create automated approval workflows, notification systems, and self-service portals for model registration and risk assessments.
- Data & Analytics Management: Build and maintain centralized repositories for AI model metadata, governance metrics, and compliance documentation. Develop data pipelines and analytics capabilities to provide real-time visibility into AI model inventory, risk profiles, and governance status.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Compliance, IT, Data Science, and business units, to promote understanding, adoption, and alignment of AI initiatives with business goals. This includes developing and delivering AI governance training programs, user guides, and technical documentation for governance platforms.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and adoption rates for AI and digitalization initiatives. Design and implement automated reporting dashboards and analytics tools to provide regular insights for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders. Leverage business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for governance reporting.
- Training & Capability Building: Contribute to AI governance training and awareness programs, including creating digital learning modules, conducting hands-on workshops for governance platforms, and developing technical documentation for end-users.
Required Techno-Functional Skillset
Technical Competencies:
- Experience with AI governance platforms and model risk management tools
- Understanding of MLOps, model lifecycle management, and AI/ML development workflows
- Understanding of testing / evaluation frameworks for Generative AI, Agentic AI & Agent based implementations
- Ability to develop key metrics, generate reporting based on AI Governance framework requirements
- Proficiency in workflow automation tools, RPA platforms, or low-code solutions
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management
- Familiarity with API integrations, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), and enterprise software architecture
- Basic scripting capabilities (Python, SQL) for automation and data analysis
- Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools
Functional Competencies:
- Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, model development lifecycle, and associated risks
- Knowledge of AI regulations and standards (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001)

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
- Min of 8 years of experience in technology risk, compliance, or governance roles
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Business, Risk Management, or related field
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts and common use cases
- Practical experience of implementing AI solutions is a plus
- Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible AI principles
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks and controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
