Nomura Services India, (Powai) supports Nomura’s businesses around the world. Powai’ s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura’s global operations and are an integral part of Nomura’s global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.
The Platform Lead – Navigator position based at Nomura’s Powai office is responsible for modernizing and scaling Navigator (Nomura's data catalog and metadata management) platform. This hands-on role combines strategic vision with deep technical expertise to drive the evolution of enterprise-wide data governance and metadata management solutions. The position requires someone who can bridge technical implementation by integrating with the Nomura systems alongside business needs while leading a team of developers to deliver robust data catalog solutions across the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the technical vision and architecture for the data catalog platform
- Design and implement scalable solutions for enterprise-wide Data Governance and metadata management
- Customize and enhance the existing 3rd party catalog tool to meet Nomura's specific requirements
- Establish technical standards, best practices and drive automation initiatives for data catalog and lineage tracking
- Become the subject matter expert for the data catalog platform – platform customization, integration with Nomura systems including cloud platforms
Team Leadership & Development
- Guide and mentor team members in technical implementation and best practices
- Assist in expanding the platform usage across Nomura group entities.
- Lead platform enhancement initiatives from conception to delivery
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Platform Modernization
- Develop and execute strategy for platform modernization
- Design and implement API-first approaches for improved accessibility of data catalog/lineage features
- Create automated promotion processes for efficient deployment
- Optimize platform performance and administration
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with CDO office to align platform capabilities with Data governance and metadata management requirements
- Work closely with internal clients for successful platform onboarding
- Provide technical consultation to business teams on platform usage
Qualifications
Technical Experience
- 12+ years of experience in technology, with at least 5 years in data platform development
- Strong experience with data catalog tools and metadata management platforms
- Proven expertise in data lineage implementation and automation
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices
- Experience with API development and integration
- Strong programming skills in languages like Python, Java, or similar
- Knowledge of data modelling and database management systems
- Experience with Messaging Systems such as Kafka, Solace, Pulsar
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of core AWS services, and AWS architecture best practices
- Proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS
- Ability to use the AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications
- Ability to use a CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to present clear and concise solutions to stakeholders and IT partners.
- Ability to work and communicate with both business and technical experts
- College or University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science and/or relevant degree
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific data catalog tools (like Collibra, Alation, Atlan or similar)
- Financial industry certifications
- Experience with data quality management tools
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in data management
- Passionate about data and analytics, analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- Visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau
