Nomura Services India, (Powai) supports Nomura’s businesses around the world. Powai’ s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura’s global operations and are an integral part of Nomura’s global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide AI governance policies tailored to the regulatory and risk landscape of the finance industry.
- Oversee end-to-end model management (development, deployment, monitoring, and retirement), utilizing market-leading tools (e.g., MLflow, ModelDB, SageMaker Model Registry).
- Ensure robust QA and testing processes for data and AI/ML models, including validation, auditability, and reproducibility—integrating best-in-class methodologies and tools.
- Collaborate with the Chief Data Office (CDO), Model Risk Management (MRM), and Information Security teams to align governance initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, Basel II/III, CCAR, GDPR).
- Champion MLOps/DataOps practices, including model and data pipeline validation, automated testing, and continuous monitoring.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for audits and regulatory reviews enabling automated technology solutions; maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving compliance and ethical AI guidelines within finance.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of quality, compliance, and innovation.
- Guide and mentor team members in technical implementation and best practices
- Assist in expanding the platform usage across Nomura group entities.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with CDO office to align platform capabilities with AI governance requirements
- Work closely with internal clients for successful platform onboarding
- Provide technical consultation to business teams on platform usage
Qualifications
Technical Experience
- 15+ years of hands-on and leadership experience designing and executing QA/testing strategies for complex data, analytics, and AI systems.
- Demonstrable track record managing AI governance, QA, and testing in regulated financial organizations.
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices
- Proficient in enterprise data governance and model management tools, expertise in model validation, model risk frameworks, monitoring, controls, and documentation within the finance domain.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and automation/testing frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of core AWS services, and AWS architecture best practices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to present clear and concise solutions to stakeholders and IT partners.
- Ability to work and communicate with both business and technical experts
- College or University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science and/or relevant degree
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD mechanisms for secure, scalable AI and data deployments.
- Familiarity with emerging AI regulation and ethical frameworks.
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in data management
- Passionate about data and analytics, analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- Visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau
