Required Experience & Skills

  • Essential Skills & Experience
  • 5 - 8 years in a Technical BA / analyst role, ideally within infrastructure, cloud, or platform environments.
  • Demonstrable experience formulating business cases for technology investment or transformation — cost modelling, benefits quantification, and options analysis.
  • Broad working knowledge across core infrastructure domains: on-premise compute and virtualisation, public cloud (AWS), networking, data centres, storage, web, middleware and database platforms — enough to engage credibly with engineering teams and interrogate their data.
  • Advanced Excel — able to build and maintain complex models from disparate source data
  • PowerPoint — able to produce executive-grade decks that are concise, visually clear, and structured for a senior audience.
  • Power BI / Grafana — building dashboards and reporting views over infrastructure and cost data.
  • Generative AI — practical use of Gen AI tools to accelerate analysis, structure strategy options, draft and iterate on materials, and synthesise complex inputs.
  • Excellent written communication — able to hold a consistent narrative and tighten wording iteratively across a document.

  • Desirable
  • Exposure to public cloud migration (AWS/Azure) and SaaS transition strategies.
  • Financial-services / regulated-environment experience
  • Experience supporting data-centre exit, consolidation, or hardware-refresh programmes.
  • SQL or a scripting language (Python / PowerShell) for data manipulation.

  • Behaviours & Competencies
  • Analytically rigorous — instinctively reconciles figures and challenges assumptions before they reach a slide.
  • Clear communicator — distils complexity into simple, accurate narratives.
  • Self-starter — comfortable operating with ambiguity and chasing clarity across a federated stakeholder model.
  • Detail-oriented without losing the strategic thread

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Business case formulation —
    • Build robust, defensible business cases for infrastructure strategy initiatives (cloud migration, data-centre consolidation, capacity optimisation, platform modernisation), including cost/benefit modelling, sensitivity analysis, and a clear assumption log behind every headline number.
    • With Cost effectiveness and ROI are key considerations, translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications factoring in available infra platforms, tools & tech stack within the firm.
    • Perform gap analysis between current and desired states
    • Create comprehensive documentation including business requirements documents (BRDs), functional requirements documents (FRDs), and user stories
  • Data analysis & modelling — Analyse infrastructure data across compute, network, storage, and database estates — utilisation, capacity, cost, and inventory — to quantify opportunities and track delivery against targets.
  • Requirements & disposition mapping — Elicit, document, and structure requirements across infrastructure and application teams; maintain traceability from analysis through to decision and action.
  • Executive reporting — Produce concise, visually compelling materials for senior stakeholders (CCO / COO / GCIO level): decision papers, RAG status narratives, and strategy decks that translate technical detail into a crisp, defensible story.
  • Stakeholder coordination — Act as the analytical bridge between infrastructure engineering, application owners, finance, risk/TPRM, and programme leadership; surface dependencies, chase ownership, and keep figures reconciled across sources.
  • Governance — Support change-control, milestone tracking, and reconciliation of bottom-up vs top-down figures so reporting withstands senior scrutiny
  • Cross-Workstream collaboration – Collaborate & partner across functions in the IT infrastructure & IT business Units to define /design technical solutions focussing on the based on the most optimal path to solution delivery
