Job Title:  Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Function Overview:

Nomura is seeking highly skilled database technology engineer that will be part of global database operations and engineering team and help drive database platform strategies.

The candidate will be located in India and will be a member of Global Database & Middleware team focusing on Database Engineering, Automations and Operations

Nomura is looking for someone keen to make an impact on database technologies through cloud adoption and automation. The candidate will continuously contribute various strategies across database technologies, with the objective to continuously keep pace with the fast-evolving technology industry.

Job Responsibilities:

• Engineer and automate various database platforms and services.
• Assist in the ongoing process of rationalizing the technology and usage of databases.
• The successful candidate will be expected to be able to respond, investigate and resolve support issues in order to improve the services provided by the team and provide consultancy to development teams.
• Participate in the creation and implementation of operational policies, procedures & documentation.
• Willing to work in the weekend and non-office hours as part of wider scheduled support group.
• Provide rota-based weekend L2/L3 escalation support. Escalation volumes are expected to be low-medium and weekend on-call support would be compensated by a comp-off. 

Required Skills:

The candidate must have the following skills and experience 

• At least 5 years of experience in Operations Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or similar roles
• Exposure to multi-platform database support and engineering experience.
• Proven ability to navigate Linux operating systems and utilize command-line tools proficiently.
• Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts, preferably with experience in AWS.
• Expertise in scripting languages like Python and automation tools like Ansible.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform).
• Strong Organization Skills and Practical Sense
• Quick and Eager to Learn and explore both Technical and Semi-Technical work types
• Engineering Mindset

Preferred Skills

Experience / Knowledge of the following will be added advantage (but not mandatory):

• Expertise in MongoDB, MSSQL & MySQL
• Exposure in Redis & Elasticsearch
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience in Infrastructure Automation Development e.g.: Ansible , Terraform
• Experience with monitoring systems and log management/reporting tools (e.g. Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Backstage).
• Practical past experience in installing, configuring, operating, and monitoring CI/CD pipeline tools
