The Chief Controls Office (CCO) is a key function within GCIO and our purpose is aligned to the GCIO Strengthen & Protect strategic pillar. We are a global team focused on strengthening our non-financial risk management framework enabling the business to accelerate strategic delivery, whilst enhancing our ability to dynamically manage risks and evidence that we are operating in control.
The CCO function is on a multi-year global transformation journey which starts with building the right foundations especially the right skills and capabilities within our global team.
Role description
This is a key role that will be pivotal in the build out of the GCIO Chief Controls Office at Nomura. Reporting to the Controls MI Lead, , this role will support the build out of the CCO Governance and MI capability. The role is part of a global team that will formalize, standardize and globalize Risk management governance and MI across CCO. The role will both support and contribute to the design and implementation of an MI and reporting strategy, and as needed will also support ‘business as useful’ monthly risk management reporting and MI activity – such as MI material for key forums and decision making committees.
We are looking for a candidate seeking a challenging role, who is able to operate at pace, use initiative and has an excellent eye for detail. We also need someone who can support the requirements capture and design of Risk Management MI, and can support establishing a process that puts those designs into production. An understanding of risk management practices, information and escalation flows is therefore also very important.
The successful candidate will play a key role within Chief Controls Office team and wider GCIO. They will need to establish themselves quickly and leverage strong design and delivery skills to support team outputs. The candidate will also need to quickly develop and then maintain productive working relationships across GCIO and 3LoD key stakeholders. Key roles responsibilities:
- Support on the design, build out and management of the GCIO CCO Risk Management Governance and MI capability.
- Support delivery and continued improvement of CCO Governance and MI key ‘business as usual’ outputs; such as supporting the Group CIO Risk Management Committee monthly and GCIO LT Controls meetings – process, agenda content and supporting MI
- Support the design and definition of CCO Governance and MI target endstate - and transition states - in line with wider CCO strategy. This role will then help oversee day-to-day the delivery of the agreed strategy
- Support the design of a standardized GCIO Control Book (in target state), and the process to ensure streamlined automated production that meets stakeholders needs to support their risk management.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
We need a candidate who:
- Has an understanding of control frameworks, risk management governance and management information in a financial services context.
- Combines governance and MI skillsets with a technical understanding relevant to the GCIO risk management agenda - such as Information Technology (IT), Information Security (IS), and/ or Data Management
- Has experience in Power BI reporting
- Has experience in a Linux, Informatica & MS SQL database
- Preferably has hands-on experience in Service Now Integrated Risk Management (IRM)
- Takes a flexible – albeit data-led approach - to help shape strategic direction, and who responds positively to feedback, internal and external circumstances.
- Can contribute to a culture that strives to continually improve business processes that impact positively on the business.
- Understand Management Information; its design, visualization, production processes and data requirements
- Is outcome focused, who can take ownership of actions, decisions and outcomes, demonstrating accountability and commitment to delivering quality outcomes within required timeframes
- Has problem solver skills, adaptable and flexible, with fungible skillset which can be applied to multiple CCO services
