Divisional Overview:

Risk Management

The Risk Management Department at Nomura is broadly organised according to the main risk classes; Credit Risk Management, Market Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Risk Methodology, Model Risk Management and New Products/Business.

The Risk Management team works to provide a firm wide capital management framework, which takes into account the availability and cost of capital, its effective utilization within and across business lines and the overall capital adequacy of the firm. Risk Management's key activities include ensuring transparency and effectively managing market, credit, liquidity, concentration and tail risk within the risk appetite of the firm and monitoring the effectiveness of capital utilization through the use of limit structures, with an emphasis on stress testing and risk adjusted returns on capital efficiency measures.

 

Business Overview:

New Business Group

The New Business team is the gatekeeper of new combination of risks to Nomura. The team is responsible to ensure the implementation of new products and new transactions are reviewed in a multi-disciplinary manner and only worthwhile initiatives are considered for allocation of Nomura’s capital and resources. New Business team also gives focus to new activities which have a bearing on the reputation of the Nomura franchise.

Role & Responsibilities:

 

 
 

 

Role description:

This role is based in the Powai New Business Group team, working closely with regional teams to manage transactions and new product activities. The role holder will be required to prepare multiple reports, perform monitoring and governance of processes and activities.

The role holder will be responsible for a range of governance-based activities to support timely, efficient and accurate reporting.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Understand the firm's New Products and Transaction framework and prepare various reports, including regulatory reports, on a timely basis.
  • Prepare regional and global reports and presentation materials for weekly, monthly, quarterly management committee meetings.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring and governance of New Business Group activities to ensure compliance with established frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review transaction and product content, challenge information where appropriate, and highlight any discrepancies between trade details and system inputs.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all processes, including regulatory assignments and attestations, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, monitor trade conditions and commitments, and manage escalations related to New Business Group activities.
  • Co-ordinate and work closely with other teams on Audit, control testing, RCSA updates for further reporting.
  • Support the NBG team in completing annual reviews of policies and procedures, and assist with other critical ad hoc activities as required.
  • Co-ordinate with IT team for system enhancements and provide necessary user sign-offs as required.
  • Contribute to NBG Management overall strategy and planning initiatives.
  • Act as Key point of contact for any report requirement from NBG leads.
