Division Overview:

 

The Risk Management Division encompasses the firm's comprehensive risk framework responsible for determining and managing the overall risk appetite for the firm. The division is responsible for effectively managing the firm's risk-return profile which ensures the efficient deployment of the firm's capital. It is one of the firm's core competencies and is independent of the trading areas and operational areas.

 

Business Unit Overview:

Global Credit Risk Management (CRM) is an independent Risk oversight function, reporting directly into the Global Chief Risk Officer (CRO).  Its mandate is to manage the risk of loss arising from an obligor or counterparty’s default, insolvency or administrative proceeding which results in the obligor’s failure to meet its contractual obligations in accordance with agreed terms.

 

CRM Powai is an integral part of global CRM, responsible for credit risk management of a diverse portfolio of counterparties across sectors and regions. Closely aligned with the regional teams, we are amongst the highest value-added Risk Management divisions in India. The team comprises of professional degree holders, who are driven to tackle unstructured problems independently.

Role & Responsibilities:

This is a high visibility Global Role that involves working on core Credit Risk infrastructure, i.e. developing Rating Models to assess Counterparty risk, creating Frameworks to meet regulatory requirements, enhancing the assessment and monitoring of credit risks. It cuts across sectors and geographies and involves working directly with the Global Internal Ratings Officer. Interaction will be with Credit Analysts / Officers, Risk Methodology, Senior Risk Committees, Business Analysts, IT as well as other divisions such as Finance/Treasury, Regulatory Liaison etc.

 

You will work closely with the Internal Rating Officer in the development, maintenance and governance of the CRM Ratings and Reviews infrastructure, as well as other frameworks such as regulatory deliverables, concentration risks, ESG etc. Specifically, this includes

    • working on credit rating model development and testing, analysis of model usage and overrides, working with IT to implement changes, Liaising and working with sector specialists on making enhancements to the ratings models, innovating to ensure the rating process is efficient and captures key risks
    • Organise and run Sector forums to make proposals or suggestions on process improvements, and secure Analysts buy-in to implementation
    • Work closely with Reporting/Middle Office to implement monitoring tools, and MI for senior management
    • Participate in adhoc projects and deliverables related to the Credit ratings and related processes

  • Project management - leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet scope and timeline.

 

  • Good organisation skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise.

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present at Committees/Forums.

 

  • Solution-oriented and the ability to be a “self-starter”, working without supervision.

Prior experience in Projects involving Credit Policies and Procedures, or Frameworks, will be an added advantage.

 

  • Experience in leading or running global working groups

 

  • Data skills such as advanced excel, Python or SQL
