Divisional Overview:

The Risk Management Department at Nomura is broadly organised according to the main risk classes; Credit Risk Management, Market Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Risk Methodology, Model Risk Management and New Products/Business.

The Risk Management team works to provide a firm wide capital management framework, which takes into account the availability and cost of capital, its effective utilization within and across business lines and the overall capital adequacy of the firm. Risk Management's key activities include ensuring transparency and effectively managing market, credit, liquidity, concentration and tail risk within the risk appetite of the firm and monitoring the effectiveness of capital utilization through the use of limit structures, with an emphasis on stress testing and risk adjusted returns on capital efficiency measures.

 

Business Overview:

The GRHQ Team works closely with the senior management of Nomura, preparing senior management committee packs and other ad-hoc reports. The GRHQ team liaises with other functions within Nomura, including all stripes within Risk Management, Treasury and Finance etc. across all the regions to provide a comprehensive picture of the risks the firm faces. The team is expected to review committee pack materials and challenge the content where appropriate. The team is also expected to be proactive in bringing issues of importance to the notice of the senior management.

This role is based in the GRHQ team who work closely with Senior Management globally to support key governance and regulatory activities. The role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside global stakeholders, predominantly based in the EMEA region. The role holder will be responsible for a range of governance-based activities to support timely, efficient and accurate reporting and operational execution.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

  • Governance & Reporting:
    • Preparation of both regional and global presentation materials for weekly, monthly, and quarterly senior management committee meetings.
    • Completion of Risk Appetite monthly reporting, as well as regional/global Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) decommissioning.
    • Provide support to the Instinet CRO, supporting ad hoc meeting materials collation, tracking of “hot topics” and coordination of cross-functional regulatory deliverables.
    • Supporting with other ad hoc Instinet deliverables, as required.
    • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and support entity/regional/ global integration and data governance initiatives.
  • Regulatory Support:
    • Ownership of regulatory horizon scanning and tracking for EMEA Risk Management.
    • Provide administrative support for key regulatory submissions, such as the Risk Management Operational Committee, the Swap Dealer Forum and quarterly SEC meetings.
    • Support the collation of the quarterly SMF update letter to Regulatory Affairs.
  • CAO Support:
    • Provide support for Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) activities, including annual SLA reviews, quarterly KRI attestations and TPRM Business Reviews, as required.
    • Provide expense management support including vendor and invoice administration and device management.
    • Provide support for people-related activities, such as training & compliance, and communications & engagement.
