Nomura Services India (Powai) supports Nomura’s businesses around the world. Division Overview:

The Risk Management Division encompasses the firm's comprehensive risk framework responsible for determining and managing the overall risk appetite for the firm. The division is responsible for effectively managing the firm's risk-return profile which ensures the efficient deployment of the firm's capital. It is one of the firm's core competencies and is independent of the trading areas and operational areas

Business Unit Overview:

Global Credit Risk Management (CRM) is an independent Risk oversight function, reporting directly into the Global Chief Risk Officer (CRO).  Its mandate is to manage the risk of loss arising from an obligor or counterparty’s default, insolvency or administrative proceeding which results in the obligor’s failure to meet its contractual obligations in accordance with agreed terms.

To achieve this, CRM has professionals located in each of the Firm’s principal regions, employing a range of qualitative and quantitative analytical skills needed to:

    1. provide independent risk management oversight.
    2. continuously evaluate, monitor and rate all the Firm’s counterparties.
    3. evaluate and approve credit exposures (subject to established credit authority guidelines and approval procedures)
    4. provide timely and accurate credit data and analysis to the Firm’s management, Business Units and Regulators

 

CRM Powai is an integral part of global CRM, responsible for credit risk management of a diverse portfolio of counterparties across sectors and regions. Closely aligned with the regional teams, we are amongst the highest value-added Risk Management divisions in India. The team comprises of professional degree holders, who are driven to tackle unstructured problems independently.

 

Besides core CRM responsibilities of assigning credit ratings, credit limit management, suggesting credit terms for legal agreements, and portfolio monitoring, the team also participates in structured deal analysis, presents at global forums, and plays a leading role in global projects. Outside of Risk Management, the team collaborates with other Divisions such as Sales and Trading, Legal, Finance, Compliance, Treasury, On-Boarding, Operations to achieve its objective of protecting the firm against credit losses. The team is also involved in the firms’ FinTech initiative and independently works on end-to-end projects to generate in-house solutions.

Role Overview:

The Credit Risk COO Associate will be a member of the Global Credit Risk Management (CRM) COO Team, who provide efficient and effective operational support for the Global CRM function.

 

The purpose of this role is to provide operational and business management support to the Global Credit Risk COO team. The role will primarily focus on providing global support for CRM across the Risk and Control framework, as well as the development and production of Credit Risk Management Information (including, but not limited to, Committee materials, CRM operational updates, KRI reporting, etc.), and day-to-day operational support for the global CRM function.

 

The role holder will also support both in identifying, executing and communicating strategic operational continuous improvement opportunities globally, and wider Credit Risk change initiatives, where required.

 

The role requires regular engagement with Senior Stakeholders across global CRM teams and the wider Risk function, such as the Credit Risk change team, the Risk and Control (R&C) team and the Operational Risk Management (ORM) team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be supporting the CRM COO team with the following activities:

 

  • The Risk & Control framework – provide appropriate global CRM support across required Risk & Control Framework activities, including, but not limited to, RCSA management, Audit issue tracking, Operational Risk action tracking, Policy & Procedure reviews, Annual and quarterly regulatory attestations, etc.

 

  • MI Reporting – provide appropriate analysis and subsequent creation of relevant Committee materials and MI for CRM COO deliverables.

 

  • Strategic initiative management – support senior leadership with the implementation of strategic global CRM initiatives, in line with their strategic plans.

 

  • Continuous improvement – identify opportunities for continuous improvement in COO operational processes across CRM, driving forwards implementation to completion.

 

  • Operational and BAU activities – lead BAU operational activities, driving colleague engagement and timely execution for activities such as annual review processes, (e.g. annual EUC attestation process, annual system access reviews, etc.).
