This Risk Policy Infrastructure role requires working within two teams, specifically the Global Risk Policy Team and The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team. Roles and responsibilities relevant to this role for both these teams have been outlined below. It should be noted that the Risk Policy related roles and responsibilities will be more dominant for this role.   

 

 

Global Risk Policy - Risk Policy Infrastructure  

 

As the Risk Policy Infrastructure resource supporting the Global Risk Policy team, you will be primarily responsible for the Global Risk Policy Platform and associated reporting related to Risk Policy.  The Platform is the Risk Management Division’s central repository for Risk Policies and is critical to ensuring that Nomura’s Risk Policies, data and document history are all maintained to the highest standards. The data in the Platform is also used to regularly produce critical MI and Policy related reporting for senior stakeholders and senior management committees.  We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic who will play a key role supporting firm critical Policies on risk management. You will work directly with the Global Risk Policy team and have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge in this important area through exposure to the end-to-end Risk Management Policy framework.

 

Specific Risk Policy Infrastructure Roles & Responsibilities

The applicant will be required to manage the Platform for the Global Risk Policy team ensuring it is fit for purpose at all times and work to identify and deliver new enhancements as necessary.  This includes (but is not limited to):

 

  • Maintaining the Platform and be the primary point of contact for Policy Writers and Policy Co-ordinators (and other users) for any questions/queries they may have on the Platform.
  • Monitoring the integrity of the data in the Platform and co-ordinating with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that the data is up to date and can be reliably used for reporting and other purposes.
  • Identifying and delivering new enhancements to the Platform in co-ordination with and following the direction of the Global Risk Policy team.
  • Producing requested / required Policy related MIs for senior management / senior management committees and forums.  Leading the development of new MIs in co-ordination with the Global Risk Policy Team including identifying the relevant pieces of information/trends that should be part of the MIs to assist senior management with decision making.
  • Being responsible for managing EUCs owned by Global Risk Policy team in line with the EUC Policy requirements.
  • Performing other similar tasks/support as may be required by the Global Risk Policy Team

 

Enterprise Risk Management (Global Risk Headquarters Reporting) Overview

 

The Enterprise Risk Management Team is responsible for the cross-functional risk management framework, which includes, principally, risk appetite, risk taxonomies and three lines of defense.

 

ERM (Global Risk HQ) works closely with the senior management of Nomura, preparing senior management committee packs and other ad-hoc reports. The ERM team liaises with other functions within Nomura, including all stripes within Risk Management, Treasury and Finance etc. across all the regions to provide a comprehensive picture of the risks the firm faces. The team is expected to review the committee pack materials and challenge the content where appropriate. The team is also expected to be proactive in bringing issues of importance to the notice of the senior management.  The team’s usual tasks & responsibilities include:

  • To prepare presentation materials for weekly, monthly, and quarterly senior management committee meetings.
  • To prepare Regulatory submissions, and Disclosures as required. Manage complex attestations such as CRDIV.
  • To co-ordinate with various functions in preparation of Risk Appetite Dashboard and its reporting.
  • To prepare and review disclosure documents relevant to Risk management at the Nomura group level as well as various legal entities.
  • To maintain proper documentation of all the processes including for any regulatory assignments and attestation.
  • Co-ordinate and work closely with Risk and control and Functional Risk teams on Audit and RCSA updates for further reporting. 
  • Assist in initiatives / BAU requirements at Global Risk Management Level where there is need for data gathering, analysis and socialization.

 

ERM(GRHQ) Roles & Responsibilities

The applicant will be a core member of the team and will work on and support ERM tasks as necessary as determined and directed by the Powai head of ERM (GRHQ).  As part of this the applicant will have the opportunity to cross-train and then ultimately provide cover to other members of the team if/when they are on leave / absent.
