Role & Responsibilities:
The role is to Programme Manage the Global Wholesale Settlements Transformation Programme. The Programme is part of Nomura’s Mission Critical Transformation Portfolio and is reportable to the Executive Management Board.
The 3-year Programme Roadmap will deliver the Wholesale Settlements Target State Architecture across Businesses, Functional Areas and Technology. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivery across multiple Global Workstreams and will be required to work with Senior Leaders across Global Businesses, Functions and Technology teams along with key Strategic Vendors.
This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of exceptional execution capability, strategic alignment and cross-functional delivery and collaboration.
• Programme Manage Global Settlements Transformation Programme to agreed timelines, scope, budget and quality.
• Responsible for agreeing Scope and Business Outcomes with Accountable Executive and key stakeholders, validating that planned project outputs deliver these outcomes.
• Manage Programme Governance including managing Internal and External Governance Forums including Steering Committees and Architecture Design Boards
• Own and drive delivery across all programme and project workstreams
• Responsible for definition and management of the Programme Delivery plan and roadmap
• Delivery of agreed Business Outcomes to agreed scope, time and benefits
• Programme Leadership and Management Globally across Business and Functional Lines and in partnership with key Vendor Partners
• Responsible for management of Budget and Commercials and supporting the overall accountability of the Programme AE (Accountable Executive)
•Work collaboratively and support teams, including active problem solving and management of risks or issues that arise during delivery. Proactively managing and addressing any project conflicts, dependencies, and scope changes.
• Monitoring and providing an honest, transparent assessment of project progress with timely reporting of status, issues, risks to various management team and governance forums as appropriate.
Key Skills:
Experience:
- Proven and demonstrable track record of leading large-scale, complex programmes across multiple geographies or business units.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in managing full complex, firm-wide Operations / Investment Banking transformation project delivery, which require coordination across multiple Operations, Businesses, Corporate functions and Technology & Vendor partners.
- Excellent understanding of Settlements (Securities, Equities and Fixed Income) and Settlement Trade Flows & Processes, along with Front to Back Trade and Settlement flows, processes, controls, data mapping and lifecycle events
- Excellent understanding of Settlements Business and Technology Architecture. Experience of Broadridge platform (e.g. GLOSS) preferable
- Proven ability in establishing and managing Senior Governance Forums (both internal and external) and annual budget of $5m+
- Demonstrable track record of managing relationship & delivery with external vendors, and managing large scale vendor commercials
- Excellent Communication, Leadership skills, Organization Skills along with experience in conflict management/ issue resolution.
- Strong understanding of project financials, business case modelling, benefits management, investment prioritisation, and transformation governance.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks across complex infrastructure transformations while implementing governance frameworks that balance innovation, operational stability, and regulatory compliance.
Team Management:
- Proven ability to build and scale high-performing teams across multiple regions beyond Powai, demonstrating cross-cultural leadership while establishing consistent global standards, effective governance structures, and diverse talent development practices that balance regional differences with organisational cohesion.
- Strong leadership skills, be a mentor to the team and constantly evaluate opportunities of learning/upskilling and lead/coach the team to fulfil any gaps.
Stakeholder Management / Engagement:
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to foster effective collaboration and partnerships across the group and to influence and collaborate effectively at CxO level.
- Ability to influence and negotiate within a complex, global and matrix Organization structure across all levels including Senior Stakeholders (e.g. CxO, Global Heads of Functions, MD Level)
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously across diverse leadership teams and functions.
- Experience of working with top-tier strategy consulting (Partner level or below) or equivalent in-house strategic leadership teams is a plus.
- Excellent track record of building and maintaining enduring relationships with stakeholders across different levels.
- Ability to present complex problems in a simple way to drive quick and effective decision-making
