The Global Markets Technology team in India is an integral part of the global team spread across all regions. We work through a combination of full ownership and team extension models to deliver these technology solutions to the Global Markets business globally

 

Job Description:

This is a VP role in the Repo Technology team in Powai. The selected candidate would be part of global Repo IT team and report to Head of the Powai team. The roles and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Develop and maintain large, complex Trade Processing Applications in the Repo area
  • Work closely with the global Repo IT development team, and provide technical architecture solutions that meet the needs of the global Repo business
  • Develop a strong understanding of the application functionality and flows, being used globally at Nomura within the Repo business area
  • Ensure code quality and delivery timelines, mentor junior team members in Mumbai to provide high quality deliverables out of Mumbai
  • Propose solutions and implement the same keeping best practices in mind.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to learn new technologies / tools as required, in order to effectively deliver output
  • Provide technical direction to the global team - adhering to the Transformation agenda of the firm, adopting standard SDLC tool chains (including Automated testing, Code Coverage, Code Reviews) and migrating application infrastructure to the cloud (including public such as AWS or private cloud)
  • Provide regular updates regarding status or progress made to managers and stakeholders.
  • Partner with users across the globe to understand the requirements and to define solutions
  • Support resolution of production and user issues, application testing and maintenance releases
  • Understand the overall ecosystem and develop appropriate integration solutions
  • Deliver high quality code within the committed deadlines
  • Expected to work with development and support team members across different regions
  • Mentor/manage local team members and provide them guidance and direction on new technologies and system architecture.

 

 

Key Skills:

 

Mandatory Skills:

  • 12+ years of work experience with a solid understanding of Core Java, Spring
  • Good understanding of OOPS concepts, and design patterns
  • Strong understanding of working with messaging middleware such as Tibco EMS, Solace or IBM MQ, alongwith handling/parsing of XML/JSON data in realtime data flows.
  • Understanding of memory management, multi-threading - concurrency and synchronization.
  • Strong database knowledge of any one RDBMS (e.g. Oracle), and proficiency with Unix Scripting
  • Familiarity with scheduling agents like Autosys
  • Experience  on new HTML5 based web technologies like React/Angular, and integrating them with back-end using Rest APIs etc
  • Candidate should be a quick learner. Should have demonstrated in the past quick learning capabilities.
  • Strong listening, problem solving, analytical skills and excellent communication skills (both spoken and written English)
  • Experience in any Continuous Integration and Build environment, as part of full SDLC cycle.
  • Must be a team player with prior experience in working in a global development team, with ability to work as individual contributor as well as mentor/manage resources locally in Powai.
