GES-SIG (Global execution services – Specialist Infrastructure group)

SIG is consisting of infrastructure group which contain silos of private cloud, public cloud, Unix, windows, Storage, backup and engineering departments. These services are backbone for enterprise solutions to cater business in Instinet ASIA, UK and US.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

This is a Techno managerial role. The selected person would be “VP-TOC (Technical Operation Centre) and would report to Instinet IT – Engineering Head. It’s very high ownership as the selected person would be part of a team that’s responsible for a significant part of overall GES-SIG coverage. In addition, the selected person would independently work with global stakeholders and various Application groups towards high quality delivery out of Mumbai Infrastructure team.

 

We are looking for a seasoned IT Infrastructure operation, with deep seated engineering mind set, who is capable of handling population scale infrastructure connected to a highly efficient network backbone, in an extremely cost-efficient environment. Ideal candidate must have deep understanding of Unix based Operating system (preferably Linux), Infrastructure as Code, Storage Technologies, Open-Source eco-system, Server Virtualization, Automated Compute and resources Capacity provisioning, hands on experience with Task automation using any one of Shell Scripting, Python etc. Incumbent must have strong knowledge of system performance with deep knowledge on Unix Kernel level fundamentals. It is expected of the candidate that s/he should be able to not only design Infrastructure architecture but be able to monitor and debug performance and reliability issues originating of infrastructure engineering. Candidate will have to manage large scale delivery projects along with being able to coordinate with diverse stakeholders such as Banks, third Party application providers, Internal stakeholders such as engineering teams, Product Managers, Product architects and must possess ability to effectively function in a cross functional environment

 

Duties & responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):

 

Infrastructure Solution Architect & operations

  • Server Virtualization & Platforms: Design server and compute solutions using VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, OpenStack, OpenShift, and KVM. Architect hybrid cloud-ready platforms integrating containers, orchestration, and bare-metal servers.
  • Storage Systems: Architect and manage storage environments including SAN, NAS, object storage, and software-defined storage. Technologies may include
  • Hitachi, NetApp, Dell Power Store, , etc.
  • Backup & DR Infrastructure: Implement enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions using tools like Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, ensuring high availability (HA) and business continuity.
  • Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure: Design and implement hybrid IT infrastructure that integrates on-premises systems with public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP) including cloud VPN, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
  • Automation: Knowledge of at least one programming language from BASH, Shell Scripting, Python.
  • Strong Knowledge of Infrastructure automatic provisioning technologies such as Ansible must have skill

 

. Good understanding of Network Architecture

  • Data Center Networking: Assist in Architecting and managing data center networks with Cisco ACI, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and network fabric technologies to provide secure, scalable, and automated connectivity.
  • SD-WAN & WAN Optimization: Collaborate with Network architecture and design/build team to Design and deploy SD-WAN solutions for secure, optimized branch-to-DC/cloud connectivity, using platforms like Cisco Viptela, Fortinet SD-WAN, or Silver Peak.
  • Cloud Connectivity: Ensure secure and resilient cloud interconnectivity (e.g., VPN/IPSec, MPLS extensions, cloud load balancers) across hybrid environments in consultation with Network architecture/build/design teams

 

Project Execution & Technical Leadership

  • Lead infrastructure design and execution for data center refreshes, Datacenter migration, branch network upgrades, and infrastructure transformation initiatives. Driving for excellence and timely delivery is the essence of the role.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support during critical deployments, performance tuning, failover simulations, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure all infrastructure projects follow security and compliance guidelines, including NIST, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, GDPR and internal IT governance.

 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication

  • Collaborate with application, DevOps, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to align infrastructure to business and regulatory requirements.
  • Convert high-level business and application requirements into scalable, robust technical infrastructure designs.
  • Produce detailed architecture documentation, HLD/LLDs, SOPs, and knowledge transfer material.

 

Vendor & Technology Management

  • Evaluate, select, and manage vendors for server, storage, and cloud integration solutions.
  • Engage with OEMs and partners (e.g., Cisco, Dell, NetApp, VMware, Red Hat, HPE, AWS, Microsoft) for technology roadmaps, licensing, and PoCs.
  • Shifts: Coverage 24X7 TOC operations
