Powai’ s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura’s global operations and are an integral part of Nomura’s global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.

We are seeking an accomplished Vice President to lead our CTO Services Governance division across our global operations. This lead role combines strategic vision with operational excellence, requiring a proven leader who can drive organizational transformation while managing complex stakeholder relationships across Japan, India, EMEA, and Americas regions.

 

The Vice President will be responsible for establishing and executing comprehensive governance strategies that enhance service delivery, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance across all CTO service domains. This role demands a strategic thinker who can translate business objectives into actionable governance frameworks while leading a high-performing team of governance professionals.

 

The position requires both functional leadership in developing governance methodologies and operational oversight in ensuring day-to-day excellence in service management processes.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary interface with senior executive leadership, driving governance maturity across the CTO services portfolio while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Experience & Skills

 

Leadership and Management Experience:

  • 10-17 years of progressive experience in Infrastructure and Service Management with minimum 5 years in leadership roles
  • Proven people management expertise with experience leading teams of professionals across multiple geographies
  • Demonstrated success in building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams
  • Experience in matrix management and influencing without direct authority
  • Track record of successful organizational change management and cultural transformation

 

Strategic and Functional Expertise:

  • Advanced strategic planning capabilities with ability to develop multi-year governance roadmaps
  • Project management skills with experience managing complex, multi-workstream initiatives
  • Deep understanding of ITIL framework and service management maturity models
  • Experience in developing governance frameworks for large-scale infrastructure environments
  • Proven ability in business case development and ROI analysis for governance initiatives

 

 

 

Technical and Operational Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of service management across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Experience with AI/ML applications in IT operations and predictive analytics
  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and automation frameworks
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in financial services (SOX, DORA, regulatory audit processes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with modern monitoring, observability, and incident management platforms

 

Stakeholder Management and Communication:

  • Exceptional executive presence with ability to present to C-level stakeholders
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills with experience in board-level reporting
  • Proven track record in managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple business units
  • Experience in vendor management and strategic supplier relationship management

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop comprehensive governance strategies with phased maturity roadmaps across Platform Services & Engineering, Workspace Engineering & Support, Core infrastructure including Cloud, and Security Engineering; lead cultural transformation and champion emerging technology adoption
  • People Management: Lead and mentor governance professionals; Establish performance expectations, career development paths, and implement talent acquisition strategies
  • Operational Excellence: Establish standardized governance processes with effective filtering mechanisms to distinguish critical issues from operational noise; improve incident response times and establish resilience frameworks for critical processes
  • Technology Innovation: Leverage AI/ML for predictive analytics and incident prevention; drive automation initiatives, SRE adoption, and implementation of modern service management platforms and monitoring solutions
  • Stakeholder Management: Conduct C-level service reviews; partner with Risk, Compliance, Audit teams; collaborate on CTO services strategy
  • Program Management: Lead multi-year transformation programs; oversee strategic vendor relationships and establish project governance frameworks with clear accountability
  • Performance Management: Establish comprehensive measurement frameworks and executive dashboards; ensure regulatory compliance and lead audit activities; drive data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics
