Nomura Services India, (Powai) supports Nomura’s businesses around the world. Powai’ s world class capabilities in trading support, research, information technology, financial control, operations, risk management and legal support have played a key role in facilitating Nomura’s global operations and are an integral part of Nomura’s global expansion plans. The Powai operation is a critical part of the platform to support the growth of Nomura’s global business.

Nomura is seeking an experienced operations specialist to support and enhance its global cryptographic infrastructure. This role underpins the security of the firm’s trading, settlement, and client-facing platforms by ensuring robust, reliable, and compliant use of encryption technologies across the organisation. We are looking for someone with strong operational discipline, excellent analytical capability, and hands-on expertise managing hardware security modules and public key infrastructure in complex financial environments.

The role sits within the Privileged Access Management team and plays a key part in safeguarding the firm’s trading, operational, and client-facing platforms. This is a hybrid position based in Mumbai, with two mandatory office days each week.

You will be working as part of a follow-the-sun operational model with colleagues in Japan, India, EMEA, and the US. You will be expected to provide BAU support once every four weeks as part of the rota (including weekends), and spend the remaining time delivering projects, enhancements, and handovers received from the Engineering team

Provide technical leadership for cryptographic and data-protection platforms including HSM, PKI/certificate management, CyberArk Privileged Access Management, and MFA technologies such as Duo or SecurID.

Build, test, and deliver new services and platform improvements to enhance resilience, automation, and operational efficiency.

Operate, maintain, and optimise Nomura’s HSM platforms used across trading systems, identity services, and secure data storage.

Provide onsite L2/L3 support, including service restoration for global deployments under the follow-the-sun model, and contribute to on-call support where required.

Engage with application teams throughout the lifecycle to ensure scalable, reliable cryptographic and certificate services across global platforms.

Manage the firm’s PKI services including root and issuing CAs, certificate lifecycle processes, OCSP/CRL infrastructure, and integration with global systems.

Diagnose and resolve issues involving cryptographic services, certificate failures, signing workflows, and HSM-related incidents affecting business-critical applications.

Collaborate with security architecture, network engineering, and application teams to embed strong cryptographic controls into new and existing platforms.

Apply encryption best practice across on-premise and cloud environments, ensuring protection of data in transit, at rest, and in use.

Maintain high-quality operational documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures.

Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and risk assessments (including ISO 27001, FCA, PRA, MAS, and internal technology governance).

Identify improvement opportunities, contributing to modernisation initiatives such as automated certificate management and HSM lifecycle upgrades.

Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers within the operations group.
