Divisional Overview:
The Operations division provides the support and control infrastructure that enables the Firm to develop and deliver financial products throughout the world. Working with the Sales, Trading and Information Technology Divisions, Operations professionals are responsible for the management and execution of transactions in a manner which maximizes profitability and minimizes risk. Our division is responsible for the management and execution of millions of securities transactions on a daily basis.
Our responsibilities include trade processing, confirmation, settlement, fails management, margin, asset servicing, risk management, Cash management and various client services. In partnership with sales, trading, prime services, information technology and other teams from across the bank, we apply a continual focus on improving productivity and efficiency, while seeking new and innovative ways to support our clients' changing needs.
Business Unit Overview:
Cash Management is a global team responsible for maintaining intraday liquidity levels across Nomura's Nostro bank accounts by monitoring real-time cash positions and ensuring sufficient funding at close of business. The team operates by funding projected balances from posted ledger bookings within the Axial infrastructure, but since not all front office trades feed into Axial in real-time, they must maintain strong communication links with all business units that impact daily funding. Cash Management actively monitors all intraday swings from new, cancelled, or amended trades, advises the funding desk on business unit requirements and variances, and makes pre-defined assumptions to capture T0 (same-day) cash requirements before trades are booked in Axial. The team applies a particularly hands-on approach to high-volatility currencies and accounts that carry elevated risk, ensuring Treasury has full transparency on projected balances and that no funding shortfalls occur.
