Risk and Control – Control Testing Associate
The Control function is responsible for managing and ensuring a sustainable governance framework to ensure controls are ‘fit for purpose’, operating as designed and are adaptable to the challenges brought in by various external events and regulatory changes. The team thus looks to facilitate identification of the firm’s risks by ensuring adequate controls are in place within Operations.
We are seeking experienced risk management professionals to join our Mumbai (Powai) office and contribute to our comprehensive global control testing program. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen and expand our existing control infrastructure. The successful candidate will support Operations-wide control validation efforts, ensuring our governance framework remains adaptive and responsive to emerging challenges, regulatory updates, and business transformation initiatives. This position is integral to maintaining the firm's risk posture and operational integrity across all business lines.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
Primary Responsibility
- Control Testing & Validation: Execute comprehensive operating effectiveness testing on pre-identified controls across business processes, ensuring controls are functioning as designed and meeting regulatory and internal risk management standards
Supporting Responsibilities
- Test Planning & Execution: Develop detailed test plans, select appropriate sample sizes, and perform walkthroughs to validate implementation effectiveness
- Documentation & Evidence Gathering: Collect, review, and analyze supporting documentation to substantiate control performance, maintaining detailed workpapers and audit trails
- Issue Identification & Reporting: Identify control deficiencies, gaps, or failures; document findings with clear root cause analysis and communicate results to management and stakeholders
- Risk Assessment Support: Collaborate with risk management teams to assess the impact of control weaknesses and contribute to overall risk profile evaluations
- Remediation Tracking: Monitor and track management action plans for identified control deficiencies, ensuring timely resolution and re-testing of remediated controls
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure testing procedures align with applicable regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks
- Process Improvement: Recommend enhancements to control design and testing methodologies based on observations and industry best practices
- Stakeholder Communication: Present testing results and findings to business unit managers and internal audit teams through clear, concise reporting
- Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to identify trends, anomalies, and potential control weaknesses across large datasets
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with business process owners, internal audit, compliance, and external auditors to coordinate testing activities and share insights
Qualifications / Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, compliance, or Operations Control
- Controls testing experience: Demonstrated background in risk assessment, or regulatory examination
- Financial Services Operations experience, preferred
Technical Skills
- Risk & Control Frameworks: Working knowledge of operational risk management principles
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data analysis), SQL, or other data analytics tools (ACL, IDEA, Tableau, Power BI)
- Documentation Tools: Experience with GRC platforms or audit management systems
- Process Mapping: Ability to understand and document business processes, control flows, and risk scenarios

Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of specific business lines (trading, lending, wealth management, etc.)
Regulatory Exposure: Experience with regulatory examinations or external audit
